Reynolds is one of the largest community colleges in Virginia and serves Virginia's capital city and five nearby counties. Annually, our four campus sites serve approximately 13,000 credit students and provide training for 7,400 students through the Community College Workforce Alliance. Reynolds is committed to hiring and retaining a racially diverse, culturally competent staff at all levels of the organization who reflect the demographics of our students. Reynolds Community College is seeking two part-time Math Central Tutors, one
for our PRC/virtual campus and one for our DTC/virtual campus.
The Math Central+ Center supports the retention and success objectives through peer
advising and course remediation.
  • Tutor and provide academic support to students in mathematics individually, in small groups or as an embedded tutor in a course. Such services may be provided in-person/on campus or virtually as determined by the supervisor.
  • Communicate effectively using both oral and written skills for reports, email, student feedback, etc.
  • Maintain working knowledge of educational software programs (e.g., MyMathLab) and instructional techniques and tools.
  • Distribute, inventory, and maintain MC+ equipment (e.g., calculators).
  • May attend additional training sessions and Professional Development
  • Opportunities related to position or at the supervisor's discretion.

Special Assignments
May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
KSA's/Required Qualifications
  • Education/Training to include Math coursework
  • Completion and/or knowledge of Developmental Math through Calculus

Additional Considerations
  • Knowledge of complementary discipline content (e.g., physics or engineering inupper-level math)
