The IT/OT Infrastructure Ops Engineer is responsible for the operation, support and design of server, storage, virtualization, and endpoint platforms that underpin our manufacturing and packaging environments. The role spans traditional IT infrastructure and OT (Operational Technology) systems, ensuring they are reliable, secure, and compliant. The successful candidate will manage and support Windows and virtualized environments, industrial PCs and HMIs, backup and recovery, and core platform services while applying strong service management practices and collaborating closely with operations, engineering, IT, and quality.
The team will focus on supporting manufacturing sites OT (operational technology) and partnering closely with our Digital Manufacturing Division, Global Technology teams as well as IT Risk Management and Security to deliver and support effective and reliable technology solutions.
Responsibilities
  • Support demand management, planning, implementation, and deployment of server, hosting, virtual machine, and Windows-related projects driven by business and IT initiatives
  • Assess server, hosting, virtualization, and Windows-related requirements to meet site business-driven investment projects and partner with corporate infrastructure teams to deliver requirements in line with project needs
  • Assess the business impact of operating system patches, firmware upgrades, server replacements, and virtual machine changes, and align with negotiated maintenance windows to ensure there is no disruption to the business
  • Troubleshoot and partner with corporate infrastructure teams to resolve complex incidents related to Windows Server, virtualization platforms, hosting environments, storage connectivity, and related infrastructure services
  • Manage virtual machines, templates, and the provisioning of new servers and associated infrastructure components
  • Monitor server and platform performance to ensure compute, memory, storage, and virtualization capacity is sized appropriately to meet business needs
  • Monitor devices and services proactively to identify and resolve issues before they disrupt service
  • Monitor backup, restore, and availability services to ensure systems remain protected and recoverable
  • Scope new access, configuration, or security changes when new server or hosting infrastructure is introduced into the environment
  • Adhere to project management and ITIL best practices and methodologies across initiatives, system deployments, troubleshooting sessions and projects while meeting timelines, budgets, and business deliverables
  • Ensure changes align with business priorities, and that new servers, virtual machines, and related services are successfully transitioned into production by following standard processes
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to improve services, reduce issues reoccurrences with long term CAPAs, optimize processes and drive financial savings

Qualifications
Required
  • Bachelor of Science Degree (BS) in Computer Science, Computer Science Engineering, Math or related discipline
  • Eight (8) years of technical operational support and service delivery experience in server, hosting, virtualization, Windows, and endpoint/security-related environments, ideally in a manufacturing environment. Within eight years, at least two or more (2+) years' experience as a Tier 3 engineer in an enterprise-level or infrastructure operations environment
  • Demonstrated hands on experience and strong working knowledge in the following areas:
    • Windows Server administration and troubleshooting
    • Virtualization platforms such as VMware or Hyper-V
    • Active Directory, including AD DS, authentication services, Kerberos, SAML, and ADFS
    • Load balancers and related application delivery technologies such as F5 and Citrix ADC
    • Server monitoring and reporting tools such as or similar to ServiceONE, Glueware, or NetBrain
    • DNS/DHCP/IP addressing and related infrastructure services
    • Storage, backup, and restore technologies (i.e CommVault, Acronis)
    • Security tools and platforms such as Trellix, Zscaler, AppControl, and Qualys
    • Cloud platforms and technologies such as AWS and Azure
  • Proven experience in troubleshooting and resolving complex server, virtualization, and Windows infrastructure issues
  • Working knowledge of ITIL processes or similar best practices (e.g. Change, Incident, Problem Management)

Preferred
  • Scripting and DevOps tools and languages (e.g. PowerShell, Python, GitHub, etc.) would be an advantage
  • Experience with global IT operations following the sun support
  • Previous experience working in a GxP environment would be ideal, though not mandatory
  • AI & Automation:
    • Experience leveraging AI-powered tools (e.g., Microsoft Copilot, Azure AI, AIOps platforms) to improve infrastructure operations, incident management, root cause analysis, automation, and service reliability.
    • Familiarity with AI-driven monitoring, predictive analytics, and operational automation to enhance performance, capacity management, and issue prevention.
    • Understanding of AI security, compliance, and responsible use within regulated and manufacturing environments.
  • Microsoft certifications such as MCSA, MCSE, or equivalent will be an advantage
  • Industry-recognized certifications such as VCP, ITIL, PMP, or security-related certifications are a very welcome plus
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills within a matrix organization
  • Proven people management skills are a very welcome plus
  • Ability to work under pressure with limited supervision

The salary range for this role is
$106,200.00 - $167,200.00
This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An employee's position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, government requirements, and business or organizational needs.
The successful candidate will be eligible for annual bonus and long-term incentive, if applicable.
