Job Summary:
The North Carolina Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services is seeking an IT Technical Specialist to design, implement, and maintain server and network infrastructure. The role involves collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure optimal performance and security of IT services across multiple data centers.
Responsibilities:
• Design, implement, and maintain server and network infrastructure to meet business needs
• Provide day-to-day administration of specific applications and/or entire networks, ensuring optimal performance and security
• Administer hardware/software system installation, backup, and monitoring to minimize downtime and ensure data integrity
• Configure and apply security settings to network and servers for internal and external networks, adhering to industry standards and regulatory requirements
• Develop and implement procedures for deployment, upgrade, and maintenance of IT systems
• Provide technical support and troubleshooting services for Imaging/Workflow, firewalls, helpdesk automation tools, application servers, virtual machine servers, file servers, and Storage Area Network
• Identify and address security-related issues and vulnerability mitigation through patching, upgrading, and proactive monitoring of logs and alerts
• Support Disaster Recovery sites and technologies as required, both remotely and onsite
• Ensure IT system production jobs run smoothly on a daily basis, adhering to set schedules and deadlines
• Manage print and sealing jobs for critical business documents, such as payroll checks, member statements, and other print materials
Qualifications:
Required:
• Six years of experience in information technology
• Six years of full-time work experience in any field plus four years of experience in information technology
• An associate's degree in information technology plus four years of experience in information technology
• A bachelor’s degree plus four years of experience in information technology
• A bachelor’s degree with twenty-four semester hours in an information technology, computer science, engineering, mathematics, or business analytics field plus three years of experience in information technology
• A master’s degree plus three years of experience in information technology
• Knowledge of server and network infrastructure, including data centers and disaster recovery
• Excellent problem-solving skills, with ability to troubleshoot complex issues quickly and effectively
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with ability to work with cross-functional teams
• Knowledge of security software and patch management, as well as compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks effectively
• Knowledge of helpdesk automation tools and services
• Ability to work in virtual servers, next generation firewalls and latest data backup technology
• Directly and indirectly support customers, vendors, and staff by providing top tier customer service
