Responsibilities

As a Home Health Speech Language Pathologist, You will:

  • Communicate with patients to evaluate their levels of speech or language difficulty, determining the need for continued therapy services
  • Teach patients how to make sounds and improve their voices
  • Teach alternative communication methods, such as sign language, to patients with little or no speech capability
  • Educate and guide healthcare team members, patients, and caregivers in specific aspects of therapeutic exercises to support continued progress outside of direct therapy sessions
  • Document appropriate progress and clinical notes noting patient's response to therapy and submit visit documentation per Agency policy

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an Occupational Therapy Education program approved by CAPTE
  • Current Occupational Therapist licensure in State and American Heart Association CPR certification required; CPR certification may be offered and completed upon hire 
  • Two (2) years of experience in adult occupational therapy, home health experience preferred
  • Excellent observation, verbal and written communication skills, problem solving skills, basic math skills; physical therapy skills per competency checklist
