Job description

Vertex Service Partners is seeking a Sales Trainer to support the onboarding, development, and ongoing success of Roof Inspectors (RIs) throughout the West Region. This role will work closely with the Director of Training and Sales Managers to ensure every new hire enters the field prepared, confident, and equipped for success. The Sales Trainer will play a critical role in delivering Vertex Sales University (VSU) programming, coordinating onboarding logistics, providing coaching and field support, and reducing administrative and training burdens on branch leadership so they can remain focused on driving revenue.

Key Responsibilities

New Hire Onboarding & Training:

  • Lead and coordinate first-week onboarding activities for all new Roof Inspectors, both virtually and onsite at branch locations.
  • Facilitate onboarding sessions including I-9 verification, employee handbook review, and new hire orientation.
  • Deliver training on roofing anatomy, products, and systems, including hands-on roof walkthroughs when available.
  • Conduct CRM and technology training to ensure new hires are prepared to operate effectively in the field.
  • Coordinate scheduling for ride-alongs, role-play sessions, team introductions, and field training activities.
  • Prepare and distribute onboarding materials, training resources, welcome kits, swag bags, and branded items.

Vertex Sales University (VSU) Support:

  • Attend and co-facilitate Vertex Sales University training sessions alongside the Director of Training.
  • Assist with grading, testing, coaching, and development of new Roof Inspectors throughout the VSU program.
  • Conduct post-VSU follow-up activities, including score updates, coaching sessions, and performance reviews.
  • Provide ongoing support and coaching to new and existing Roof Inspectors between VSU training cycles.

Field Coaching & Development:

  • Travel to branch locations to ride along with Roof Inspectors and provide actionable coaching and feedback.
  • Partner with Sales Managers to reinforce training concepts and support rep development.
  • Conduct one-on-one coaching sessions focused on skill development, confidence building, and performance improvement.

Program Administration & Logistics:

  • Manage onboarding logistics, including ordering and shipping training materials, roofing bags, uniforms, and branded merchandise.
  • Coordinate with IT (Dataprise) to provision devices, applications, and technology resources for new hires.
  • Collect and track onboarding information, uniform sizing, equipment requests, and training completion records.
  • Maintain organized records of trainee progress, assessment scores, certifications, and onboarding milestones.
  • Assist the Director of Training in maintaining and updating training materials, content, and resources.

Key Outcomes

  • Deliver a consistent, high-quality onboarding experience for all new Roof Inspectors across the West Region.
  • Improve new hire readiness, confidence, retention, and speed-to-productivity.
  • Successfully support Vertex Sales University training cycles and participant development.
  • Ensure timely and accurate completion of onboarding logistics, technology setup, and training requirements.
  • Provide ongoing coaching and development that improves field performance and sales effectiveness.
  • Maintain accurate training records and onboarding documentation to support operational excellence.

Qualifications & Characteristics

Required:

  • Experience in sales training, onboarding, coaching, or employee development.
  • Strong facilitation, presentation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to build relationships and influence learners across multiple locations and levels of the organization.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Comfortable facilitating both virtual and in-person training programs.
  • Proficiency with CRM systems, Microsoft Office, and training technologies.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% throughout the West Region.
  • Self-starter with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.

Preferred:

  • Experience within residential roofing, home improvement, or construction-related industries.
  • Experience supporting sales onboarding and consultative sales training programs.

  • Prior field sales experience and/or sales management experience.

Compensation
