Position Overview
The Business Development Sales Representative is responsible for generating new business opportunities and expanding client relationships in alignment with company goals. This role focuses on selling professional engineering, testing, and environmental services by identifying prospects, cultivating leads, and managing the end-to-end sales process. Working closely with operations, marketing, and technical teams, the representative plays a critical role in promoting UES's specialized solutions in environmental and earth sciences, sustainable infrastructure, and geophysical technologies.
Responsibilities
  • Execute sales goals set by the Branch Manager and Regional Sales Manager and use these as guidelines for daily sales activities.
  • Support the sales and marketing teams.
  • Generate sales that meet company margin objectives by identifying leads, referrals, and add-on opportunities.
  • Ensure lead times and communication quality are maintained to control and plan workflows effectively.
  • Use sales reporting and planning tools to manage time and sales efforts efficiently.
  • Maintain field presence with new and existing clients to support sales and customer development and cultivate referral business.
  • Assist with proposal preparation, follow-up on proposals, and complete RFPs and vendor application requests.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree and 5+ years of experience in a marketing discipline (or equal combination).
  • Ability to foster and maintain good relationships at all levels, with prior supervisory experience.
  • Comfort with industry technologies, as well as standard office and collaboration software.
  • Demonstrated business acumen and the ability to deliver and communicate goals, programs, and solutions.
  • Highly adaptable with exceptional listening, reading, communication, and problem-solving skills.
    Travel Requirements
    • This position requires occasional travel, approximately 10% to 20% of the time, to support business objectives and client engagements. Travel may be both scheduled and on short notice, depending on project needs. Destinations typically include job sites, field locations, or regional offices, where work may be conducted in outdoor or operational environments. Adherence to all company safety protocols and use of PPE is required during travel and on-site work.
    Physical Demands & Work Environment
    • This position primarily operates in a professional office environment, requiring the ability to work at a desk for extended periods while using a computer, phone, and standard office equipment.
    • The position involves sitting for extended periods, performing data entry, and engaging in frequent communication via email, phone, and in-person interactions.
    • The role involves regular communication with team members, clients, and stakeholders, both in person and through virtual platforms.
