Job description

Perform maintenance on bi-injection hot runner molds. This position will be straight afternoons (2nd shift) starting on straight days during training for a few weeks.

Plastic Injection Mold Repair TechnicianThe Opportunity

Join our team as a Plastic Injection Mold Repair Technician and play a key role in keeping our injection molding operation running efficiently. You’ll maintain, troubleshoot, and repair molds and tooling, working closely with Production, Engineering, and Process Technicians to minimize downtime and maximize tool life.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform preventive and predictive mold maintenance based on cycles, run hours, and tool condition.
  • Inspect, clean, repair, and service cavities, cores, slides, lifters, ejector systems, cooling circuits, vents, and other mold components.
  • Troubleshoot tooling issues and respond quickly to production downtime.
  • Disassemble, assemble, and fit molds to precise tolerances; verify proper operation before returning tools to production.
  • Diagnose and repair issues such as flash, short shots, sticking, and dimensional variation.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot hot runner and hydraulic systems.
  • Use precision measuring equipment including micrometers, calipers, height gauges, and bore gauges.
  • Maintain accurate electronic records of mold maintenance and repairs.
  • Work with Engineering and Production to improve mold performance and extend tool life.
  • Maintain tool room equipment, inventory, and a clean, organized work environment.
  • Work independently and as part of a team to meet production priorities and deadlines.
What You Bring
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of hands-on plastic injection mold repair or maintenance experience.
  • 3+ years of experience using manual tool room equipment.
  • Strong knowledge of mold components, tooling, and repair techniques.
  • Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair tooling problems effectively.
  • Experience with hydraulic systems and hot runner systems.
  • Ability to read and follow tooling work orders and technical instructions.
  • Strong visual inspection and precision measurement skills.
  • Ability to safely operate tool room machinery and equipment.
  • Good English communication skills, both written and verbal.

Nice to Have: Trade school/college, prototype toolmaking, or plastic injection processing experience.
