Job description

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Injection Molding Engineer will play a key role in supporting production, process optimization, and new equipment implementation for high quality plastic components supplied to major automotive OEMs. This position is responsible for developing and maintaining robust molding processes across machines ranging from 180 – 1600 ton, integrating automation systems such as six-axis robots with EOAT and camera-based inspection systems and leading the specification, purchasing, and installation of new molding and auxiliary equipment.
Internal candidates are required to have under 3.00 attendance points.
BASIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Develop, document, and optimize injection molding processes for new and existing automotive programs
  • Collaborate with equipment suppliers to evaluate new technology and ensure seamless integration into production
  • Troubleshoot and resolve molding defects such as short shots, flash, splay, sink, burn marks, and warpage
  • Optimize processes on injection molding machines ranging from 180 to 1600 tons
  • Program and integrate sit-axis robots for pat handling, degating, or in-mold assembly using customized end-of-arm tooling (EOAT)
  • Support implementation and operation of camera and vision inspection system for automated quality verification
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Quality, Maintenance, Production) to maintain process stability and compliance with IATF 16949 standards
  • Participate in APQP, PPAP and FMEA activities to ensure successful product launches
  • Provide technical training and support to production personnel
  • Drive continuous improvement projects focused on efficiency, scrap reduction, cycle time, and equipment utilization
  • Manage tooling maintenance, repair, and modification schedules with internal and external partners

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 3-7 years of hands-on experience in injection molding process development within an automotive tier 1 environment
  • Strong technical background in molding of PP (Polypropylene, PMMA (Acrylic), and PC (Polycarbonate) resins
  • Experience specifying, purchase, and installing new molding and auxiliary equipment
  • In-depth knowledge of mold design fundamentals (gating, venting, cooling, ejection) and scientific molding principles
  • Hands on experience with injection molding machines (180 – 1600 ton)
  • Proficiency with six-axis robots, EOAT design/programming, and vision inspection systems
  • Familiarity with IATF 16949, APQP, PPAP, and FMEA requirements
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities (DOE, 5-Why, Fishbone)
  • Excellent communication skills
OPTIONAL/PREFERRED SKILLS:
  • Experience with insert molding, overmolding, or multi-shot processes
  • Proficiency with Moldflow or equivalent simulation software
  • Knowledge of automation, robotics integration, and process control systems
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Lean Manufacturing certification
  • Experience leading equipment commissioning and plant layout optimization projects
EDUCATION REQUIRED:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Plastics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering
