Overview
Job Purpose
The New York Stock Exchange, a subsidiary of Intercontinental Exchange, Inc. (ICE) presents an opportunity for a full-time Senior Developer with expertise in blockchain systems and C++ engineering. The Senior Developer will have experience in all phases of software development lifecycle, from requirements gathering, to design, coding, testing, debugging and supporting in production. The ideal candidate will have broad blockchain experience across multiple blockchain platforms (EVM and non-EVM) and will contribute to building secure, scalable blockchain-integrated systems that support next-generation financial infrastructure. This role blends modern decentralized development with traditional high-performance engineering.
This position requires technical proficiency and problem solving as well as an eager attitude. Professionalism and solid communication skills are required as the applicant will frequently be interacting with the business and sales teams to achieve strategic business goals.
Responsibilities
  • Build integrations with blockchain nodes across multiple ecosystems.
  • Design, develop and test smart contracts using on-chain programming languages such as Solidity and support off-chain services.
  • Develop backend services in C++, Python, Go, or Rust that interact with blockchain nodes via RPC APIs.
  • Maintain and enhance C++ components include in high-performance or low-latency processes.
  • Analyze requirements and propose technical solutions in delivering projects within expected parameters of cost, time and quality.
  • Collaborate with other Developers and QA Engineers to execute full cycle integration. Own and resolve all priority defects identified within the developer's codebase in a timely fashion.
  • Provide on-call technical support during business and, occasionally, off hours depending on rotation and/or subject-matter expertise on a given component.

Knowledge and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Engineering
  • 5+ years hands on experience in C/C++ programming language on Linux
  • 2+ years blockchain development experience with EVM and/or non-EVM blockchains
  • Experience with institutional DeFi and custody solutions
  • Proficiency with smart contract engineering with security best practices
  • Experience with multi-party signing and secure cryptographic key management
  • Understanding of cryptographic primitives and blockchain consensus mechanisms
  • Understanding of the Ethereum Virtual Machine, transaction lifecycle and gas model
  • Experience with Hardhat, Foundry, or similar tooling
  • Strong understanding of the TCP/IP network protocol
  • Hands-on scripting experience in Bash or Python

Illinois Base Salary Range
The expected base salary for this role, if located in Illinois, is between $140,000 - 170,000 USD. The base salary range does not include Intercontinental Exchange's incentive compensation. While we provide this range as general guidance, at ICE we compensate employees based on the skillset and experience of the individual. Regular full-time ICE employees are eligible for a suite of competitive employee benefits, including healthcare coverage (medical, dental and vision), a 401(k) plan, life insurance, time off, and paid leave for qualifying circumstances.
