Overview

At Room & Board, our full-time Design/Retail Sales Associate role (5 days a week, including weekends, with 8-hour shifts) offers an array of generous benefits, including health benefits, three weeks of paid vacation, 401(k), profit sharing, and more. You'll be part of a lean, high-performing team of three, surrounded by beautiful home furnishings that showcase American craftsmanship. This role requires comfort balancing multiple customers at once during peak seasons, as well as the initiative to stay productive and engaged during slower periods. You will leverage technology, tools, and resources in innovative ways, creating a rich and engaging experience to help customers craft homes and spaces they love.
Job location: 830 N. Palm Canyon Drive, Palm Springs, CA 92262
Store hours:
Wednesday - Saturday: 10 a.m. - 6 p.m.
Sunday: 11 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Schedule:
Wednesday - Sunday
Days off are Monday and Tuesday. Flexibility with your schedule is needed throughout the year.
What you bring to be successful as a Design / Retail Sales Associate:
  • Strong motivation to serve customers through an individualized, consultative approach, demonstrating professionalism, warmth, and adaptability to varied needs.
  • Ability to manage multiple customer interactions simultaneously during busy periods, ensuring each customer feels supported and valued.
  • Self-motivated and proactive, able to work independently within a small team and stay productive during slower showroom traffic through follow-ups, organization, and learning.
  • Collaborative team player with self-awareness and flexibility, comfortable working closely in a small, highly interdependent team.
  • Working with other areas of the business (Room & Board for Business, Customer Care, and other showrooms) to support the online and in-store customer experience.
  • Commitment to guiding customers toward the right solutions in a collaborative, non-commissioned sales environment throughout the design process.
  • Comfortable leveraging technology such as iPads, floor-planning software, and POS systems, with the agility to quickly learn new tools.
  • Energy and stamina to succeed in a fast-paced retail environment, balancing peak-time demands with focused, independent work during quieter periods.
  • A lifelong-learner mindset, continuously building product knowledge, design expertise, and technical skills to enhance customer experience and team success.

Additional position requirements and qualifications as a Design / Retail Sales Associate:
  • 2+ years of experience working in a customer-centric, fashion/design-savvy retail environment with a passion for design and engaging with customers on the showroom floor.
  • You bring exceptional communication skills, demonstrated confidence, attention to detail, prioritization and organization skills, and a high level of comfort navigating technology and virtual resources.

  • Ability to provide proof of identity and legal work authorization upon hire.
