Job description

We are looking for a Systems Engineer to support and enhance a server and virtualization environment in Sinton, Texas. This position focuses on keeping core infrastructure secure, stable, and available while partnering with internal teams and external providers to address technical needs. The role also contributes to disaster recovery readiness, system documentation, and ongoing platform improvements across server, storage, and backup technologies.
Responsibilities:
• Oversee the daily operation, maintenance, and improvement of virtualized platforms and Windows-based server systems to ensure dependable performance.
• Install, configure, and support server software, operating systems, and related hardware used across the infrastructure environment.
• Manage backup processes for critical physical and virtual systems, maintain recovery documentation, and help ensure business continuity preparedness.
• Administer directory services and cloud productivity access, including user permissions, identity management, and licensing within Active Directory and Microsoft 365.
• Maintain security controls across infrastructure systems by supporting antivirus tools, threat prevention measures, encryption standards, and other protective technologies.
• Track server health, capacity, uptime, and system integrity, and apply operating system patches and software updates in a timely manner.
• Work closely with vendors and internal stakeholders to resolve issues affecting virtualization, storage, backup, and server platforms.
• Create and maintain technical documentation covering infrastructure design, IP details, operational procedures, process flows, and support guidelines.
• Partner with end users and IT colleagues to understand business needs, troubleshoot system issues, and assist with broader infrastructure support, including backup coverage for network operations when needed.
• Provide after-hours or on-site support when urgent infrastructure incidents or business-critical needs require immediate attention.• At least 3 years of experience supporting server infrastructure, with stronger consideration for candidates who have managed complex enterprise environments.
• Hands-on expertise with virtualization technologies such as VMware, Citrix, or Hyper-V in administration and ongoing support activities.
• Practical knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server, Active Directory, Azure Active Directory, Microsoft Exchange, and Microsoft 365 administration.
• Experience diagnosing and resolving server, systems, storage, or backup-related technical issues in a production setting.
• Familiarity with disaster recovery planning, system backup practices, and infrastructure documentation standards.
• Understanding of information security principles and their application to servers, endpoints, storage platforms, and administrative access.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Systems or a related discipline, or equivalent experience in infrastructure engineering.
• Microsoft or VMware certifications are preferred.
