Job description

A Baptist Client Server Manager is responsible for leading the strategy, design, and execution of imaging, deployment, and virtualization processes for the organization's endpoint devices. This role ensures that devices (desktops, laptops, mobile, and virtual desktops) are standardized, secure, and efficiently managed across the enterprise. Also  oversees the design, implementation, maintenance, and support of Citrix infrastructure, including XenApp, XenDesktop, Provisioning Server, and related components. They act as a senior technical leader, guiding team members in Citrix administration, troubleshooting, and optimization, while ensuring alignment with business and security goals.

Core Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Team Management

  • Serve as the strategic lead for the Device Imaging and Integration/Virtualization team, aligning with organizational goals  
  • Manage day-to-day operations, personnel, and performance, fostering a high-performance culture.
  • Lead and mentor technical teams, including engineers and administrators, in imaging, virtualization, and endpoint management.
  • Supervise Citrix administrators, coordinate tasks, and mentor junior staff in Citrix technologies
  • Oversee the administration of Citrix farms, manage app publishing, resource allocation, and usage trends; ensure high availability and performance

Imaging & Deployment Management

  • Oversee the creation, customization, and deployment of standardized operating system images (Windows, macOS, Linux, etc.) using tools like Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM), Ivanti Endpoint Manager, Intune, VMware, or Google Admin Console  
  • Prepare base images and software packages for new and existing devices.
  • Ensure compatibility testing and documentation for all images and configurations.
  • Lead the design, maintenance, and evaluation of Citrix, VMware, and supporting technologies; plan migrations (e.g., XenApp 6.5 to 7.15 LTSR) 

Virtualization & Desktop Management

  • Design and implement virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) solutions using VMware, Citrix, or similar platforms.
  • Manage device lifecycle, provisioning, and decommissioning for both physical and virtual endpoints.
  • Integrate virtualization with imaging and deployment workflows for seamless user provisioning.

 Integration & Automation

  • Integrate imaging, virtualization, and application delivery tools (e.g., Workspace One, Ivanti, Intune) to streamline deployment and management.
  • Automate imaging and provisioning processes to improve efficiency and reduce manual errors.

Security & Compliance

  • Enforce cybersecurity policies, patch management, and vulnerability reduction across all endpoints  
  • Ensure compliance with organizational and regulatory standards for data protection and device security.

Operational Oversight & Change Management

  • Review and document all imaging and virtualization designs, including versions, software components, and special settings.
  • Lead change management for imaging and virtualization projects, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.

Support & Troubleshooting 

Provide escalation support for global Citrix environments; resolve complex issues with minimal to moderate complexity. Published applications and Published desktops 

Monitoring & Reporting

Use tools like Citrix Director, Edgesight, and monitoring platforms to track performance, generate alerts, and report on usage  

Integration & Collaboration: Work with cross-functional teams to integrate Citrix solutions with enterprise systems, networking, and security  

Documentation & Knowledge Transfer: Maintain system configurations, processes, and best practices for compliance and onboarding  

Required Skills & Experience

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, or related. Experience can substitute degree . 
  • Experience:
    • 5+ years in team management, with 8+ years in computer hardware/software support.
    • 5+ years in imaging, virtualization, or endpoint management.
    • Experience with MECM/SCCM, Ivanti, Intune, VMware, Google Admin Console, and related tools.
  • Certifications (preferred): MCSE, Microsoft 365 Endpoint Administrator, Ivanti or Google Admin certification, ITIL, or related security certifications are a plus.
