Position Summary

The Design/BIM Drafter is responsible for assisting with the creation of technical shop drawings and supporting the BIM team with model modifications. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, eager to learn, and interested in developing a career in BIM and construction technology.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support Coordinators, Leads, and Technicians with model modifications and updates.
  • Work collaboratively as part of the BIM/CAD support team to achieve consistent, accurate, and high-quality results.
  • Create and revise shop drawings based on project requirements.
  • Review project documents and drawings to support accurate drafting and modeling.
  • Assist with maintaining model accuracy and consistency throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Communicate effectively with BIM team members and ask questions when clarification is needed.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Because the needs of the company are constantly evolving, the above list is not exhaustive and may be revised to meet changing priorities.

Education and Experience

  • Associate degree in Design, Drafting, Architecture, Construction, or a related field preferred.
  • 0–1 years of relevant experience preferred.
  • Internship, school, or project experience with drafting, BIM, or construction documents is a plus.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to comprehend and interpret architectural and construction documents.
  • Basic understanding of engineering design packages and how they relate to a project.
  • Basic understanding of structural drawings and documents.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet project deadlines.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Willingness to learn and develop technical skills in BIM and construction technology.

Computer Skills

  • AutoCAD: Basic understanding of creating and modifying objects in 2D and 3D.
  • Revit: Basic knowledge of families, templates, and parameters.
  • Navisworks: Ability to navigate and review models.
  • Bluebeam: Ability to create markups, pull dimensions, and edit PDFs.
  • Microsoft Office: Basic understanding of Microsoft Office applications.

Work Environment

This position works in a professional office environment and may occasionally require visits to construction jobsites or other project locations. The employee is expected to maintain a professional and collaborative approach while working with BIM team members, project teams, and other stakeholders.
