Role Overview
An opportunity is available for an IT Technical Writer to support U.S. Army mission-critical communications and technology initiatives. This role is focused on developing and maintaining clear, accurate, and mission-aligned documentation that enhances operational readiness and supports the unit's evolving technical landscape.
Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with engineers, analysts, and military personnel to capture and translate complex technical processes into clear, mission-ready documentation.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to identify gaps in existing documentation and resolve communication challenges that impact operational efficiency.
  • Operate within a dynamic, fast-paced environment, working alongside both civilian and military stakeholders to ensure alignment with Army standards.
  • Develop and maintain user manuals, system guides, and SOPs that directly support mission-critical systems and enhance readiness across the unit.
  • Leverage expertise in tools such as Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, and VISIO, along with familiarity in documentation standards, to produce high-quality deliverables that meet compliance and security requirements.
Required Qualifications
Experience: A minimum of 5 years of related experience in technical writing, preferably within IT, cybersecurity, or defense-related environments.
Technical Skills:
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Visio, and Adobe Acrobat for document creation, editing, and diagramming.
  • Experience with SharePoint and other content management systems.
  • Familiarity with documentation standards, including MIL-STD and style guides.
  • Ability to interpret and translate complex technical information into clear, concise documentation.
  • Working knowledge of IT systems, cybersecurity principles, and network infrastructure terminology.
  • Understanding of version control and document lifecycle management.
