Description
FII USA, Inc., a Foxconn Technology Group Company, is seeking an Automation Engineer to drive automation initiatives and enhance manufacturing efficiency within our PCBA facility. Once a part of the team, you will be responsible for a wide variety of tasks within the Engineering/Manufacturing department in a production environment and have the opportunity to display critical thinking skills to expand your career in Smart Manufacturing.
The Automation Engineer will design and implement automated systems, develop PLC and robotics solutions, and optimize manufacturing processes while collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
  • Design and implement comprehensive automated production processes for SMT and PCBA manufacturing, including line balancing, material flow optimization, and cycle time reduction strategies
  • Develop, modify, and maintain complex PLC, HMI, and motion control programs using various platforms (Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Omron) to enhance equipment functionality and user interface
  • Engineer and integrate advanced robotic systems, multi-camera vision inspection systems, and precision motion controls for automated component placement and testing
  • Perform advanced troubleshooting of automation-related issues using data analytics and diagnostic tools to minimize downtime and optimize system performance
  • Implement and oversee lean manufacturing and Industry 4.0 initiatives, including IIoT sensor integration, real-time monitoring systems, and predictive analytics
  • Lead comprehensive root cause analysis and failure mode effects analysis, developing systematic approaches to prevent recurring issues
  • Design and implement robust preventive and predictive maintenance strategies using condition monitoring and machine learning algorithms
  • Develop and conduct technical training programs for staff on automation systems, safety protocols, and maintenance procedures
  • Create and maintain digital twin simulations for process optimization and virtual commissioning
  • Develop automated quality control systems incorporating AI-driven defect detection
  • Design and implement automated material handling systems including AGVs and conveyor systems
  • Create and maintain automation system documentation including SOPs, maintenance schedules, and validation protocols
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Automation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field required
  • 3-7 years of automation engineering experience in PCBA/SMT manufacturing strongly preferred
  • PLC programming certifications, robotics experience, machine vision systems expertise preferred
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds and stand for extended periods while working with manufacturing equipment
