Description
Exalt Health, an acute rehabilitation hospital, provides an intensive rehabilitation program, and admitted patients must be able to tolerate three hours of intense rehabilitation services per day. Focused on caring for patients with complex rehabilitative needs such as stroke, spinal cord injury, brain injury, head trauma, medically debilitation conditions, neurological disorders, cardio-pulmonary amputations, orthopedic injuries, and multiple major traumas.
Position Summary
As a Remote Evaluating Physical Therapist, you will play a vital part in our interdisciplinary team by conducting comprehensive patient evaluations virtually. This role does involve providing virtual direct patient care. working collaboratively via video conference with an on-site Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) who will collect the required physical data in conjunction with your virtual assessment. Utilizing this data, you will complete thorough patient assessments and develop individualized treatment plans to maximize functional outcomes.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough patient evaluations remotely via secure video conferencing.
  • Direct and collaborate with on-site Physical Therapy Assistants to collect required data for physical examinations, range of motion testing, gait analysis, and assessments of strength, coordination, and balance.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans focused on maximizing functional independence, based on the data collected during the virtual assessment.
  • Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to review and implement treatment plans.
  • Document evaluation sessions accurately and maintain detailed patient records within the electronic medical record system.
  • Participate virtually in interdisciplinary team meetings and collaborate effectively with nurses, case managers, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Maintain a positive and professional demeanor, fostering a supportive and encouraging environment for patients during virtual interactions.

Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
(Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
Licenses or Certifications:
  • Must maintain an active, unencumbered clinical license to practice professional Physical Therapy within your state of residence.
  • The clinical license must be a recognized compact/multi-state license.
  • Current BLS required via the American Heart Association or American Red Cross (required).

Education, Training, and Experience:
  • Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree from an accredited program (required).
  • 2 years of Inpatient Rehabilitation experience (preferred).
  • Experience in telehealth or remote clinical assessments (preferred).

Skills and Abilities, Proficiency and Productivity Standards:
  • Strong clinical reasoning and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills, specifically adapted for virtual healthcare environments.
  • Highly organized with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects within a dynamic environment.

  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Speaks and communicates English effectively in verbal and written format; writes legibly.
