    THE POSITION:

    We have an exciting opportunity at our Northeast Animal Shelter in Salem, MA for an Animal Welfare Specialist. Animal Welfare Specialists (AWS) are at the forefront of the MSPCA' smission, working directly with people and their pets to effect positive change in our community. Some job responsibilities include:

    • Working hands-on with several species of animals, feeding, cleaning and disinfecting animal living spaces, providing enrichment activities, exercising, medication administration, etc.
    • Facilitating adoptions by matchmaking animals with prospective adopters using a conversation-based approach with a goal of identifying the best possible outcome for the person and the animal.
    • Assisting in the surrender of an animal in an empathetic and compassionate manner that is free from judgment.

        APPLICANT REQUIREMENTS:

        We are looking for applicants with at least one year of experience in a customer service/client care position. Previous work or volunteer experience with animals is a plus! Applicants should also demonstrate excellent judgment and interpersonal skills and be eager to work to support the human-animal bond.

        Applicants with a proficiency in Spanish are strongly encouraged to apply.
