Job description

You care a lot. So do we. Let's build something better-together.

Veterinary medicine is a calling. And those who choose to lead in it? You're rare. You're resilient. And you're our kind of person.

At Modern Animal, we're reimagining what veterinary care can feel like for pets, for clients, and just as importantly, for the humans who show up every day to make it all happen. If you've ever thought, there has to be a better way to do this, we think you might have just found your people.

Prefer to watch instead of read? Take a peek at Inside Modern Animal for a behind-the-scenes look at our clinics and culture.

What Makes Modern Animal Different?

We're not just here to build better clinics-we're here to build better days. Our clinic managers are empowered to lead with heart, hold high standards, and make space for humor, compassion, and human connection, even on the hard days.

At Modern Animal, you can expect:

  • Warm, thoughtful clinic spaces that feel good to walk into-for your team and for every client.
  • A 24/7 virtual care team to support our patients and take pressure off the floor team.
  • Cross-functional collaboration-you'll work with medical, operations, recruiting, and support teams who actually work together.
  • An organization that evolves-we're building the future, and you'll help shape it.
The Role: Clinic Manager

This isn't just people management. This is people development. Culture-building. Leading through empathy and clarity. And being the person who makes others feel like they belong. It's also about building a business that thrives-where operational excellence and financial health create the foundation for sustainability, growth, and the kind of care we all believe in.

Your mission:
Help build, coach, and lead a team that delivers exceptional veterinary care with empathy and excellence. You'll be the onsite leader-ensuring your clinic is not only operationally sound but also emotionally healthy.

You'll be doing things like:

  • Coaching, mentoring, and developing a diverse team of humans who care deeply
  • Collaborating on hiring and onboarding with an eye toward both skill and cultural fit
  • Owning and optimizing the schedule to ensure flow, productivity, and sustainability
  • Managing performance, giving meaningful feedback, and championing growth
  • Contributing to a thriving business by upholding operational excellence and financial health as foundations for sustainable, high-quality care
  • Modeling and maintaining a culture of kindness, curiosity, accountability, and humor
  • Advocating for your clinic and making sure the team's voice is heard in broader company conversations
  • Jumping in where needed-whether it's on the floor, in a client conversation, or in a strategy meeting
You Might Thrive Here If You:
  • Have 5+ years of people leadership experience (veterinary preferred, but not required)
  • See both the forest and the trees-you can zoom into the details while never losing sight of the big picture
  • Lead with humility and openness, and see feedback as a tool for building trust and driving growth.
  • Know how to create psychological safety, set expectations, and hold people to them with warmth
  • Are excited to try new things, make mistakes, and help make something that doesn't exist yet
What We'll Offer You:
  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage with multiple plans to choose from
  • 401k with company match
  • Paid vacation and sick time
  • Paid parental leave
  • Free Modern Animal membership for your pets and discounts on services
  • Access to mental health and well-being support via Spring Health
  • A team that supports and celebrates each other
