Job description

Academic Cardiologist: Advanced Cardiac Structural Echocardiography

Loma Linda University Faculty Medical Group, Department of Cardiology, is seeking a BE/BC Cardiologist Imager to join our team. Loma Linda University Medical Center, a nationally recognized academic medical center and regional referral center for advanced structural heart disease, is seeking a Level III trained cardiologist with expertise in Advanced Structural Echocardiography and Intraprocedural Guidance to join our established cardiovascular team. This position offers the opportunity to become an integral member of a rapidly expanding Structural Heart Program performing a broad spectrum of cutting-edge transcatheter therapies in a highly collaborative academic environment.

The ideal candidate will work closely with structural interventional cardiologists, cardiac surgeons, and imaging teams to provide comprehensive imaging support across all phases of structural heart care, from pre-procedural planning through intraprocedural guidance in the cath lab and OR, and post-procedural follow-up.

About the Role

The successful candidate will provide advanced structural echocardiographic imaging, including:

  • Intraprocedural 2D/3D TEE guidance for:
    • TAVR including leaflet modification (BASILICA, UNICORN)
    • Mitral TEER
    • Transcatheter mitral valve replacement (Including M3)
    • Tricuspid TEER
    • Tricuspid Replacement (Evoque)
    • Paravalvular leak closure
    • Left atrial appendage occlusion
    • Closure of ASD, VSD, PFO
    • Mechanical Aspiration of Intracardiac Mass (AngioVac, AlphaVac)
    • Other advanced structural heart procedures

    Additional responsibilities include:

    • Advanced echocardiography interpretation
    • Participation in a multidisciplinary Structural Heart Team alongside Structural Interventional Cardiologists and Cardiothoracic Surgeons
    • Teaching fellows, residents, and medical students
    • Participation in clinical research, trials, and program development
    • Opportunities for leadership within the Echocardiography Laboratory for qualified candidates
    Qualifications

    MD or DO degree (or equivalent) Board certified/eligible in Cardiovascular Disease Level III training in Echocardiography Dedicated Training/Expertise in Advanced Structural Cardiac Echocardiography and Intraprocedural Guidance Strong interest in academic medicine, education, innovation, and clinical excellence Additional experience in cardiac CT or multimodality imaging is welcome.

    Compensation & Benefits

    Expected Total Annual Compensation: $450,000 - $550,000 The compensation range listed is for starting base compensation only and is adjusted based upon years of experience and/or faculty rank $350,000 - $434,000. This amount includes variable compensation and is subject to the individual department compensation plans.
