Job Duties

We are recruiting for a Relationship Marketing Specialist. This position will assist with increasing our brand awareness through implementation of marketing plans and represent the organization through regular face-to-face contact with the public. The position is based in the southwestern region of Virginia including Roanoke, Blacksburg, Bristol, and surrounding areas.

In this position, you will:

  • Coordinate and conduct exhibit tables, media interviews, presentations and webinars for a wide range of audiences and topics
  • Develop content and segment messaging to reach a broad audience across marketing channels such as sponsorships, events, and webinars
  • Serve as lead for medium and large projects and events including planning, tracking, adjusting execution based on audience and ensuring appropriate materials are available and deadlines are met
  • Coordinate vendor logistics and assign areas of responsibility to enhance the agency's presence and fully maximize partnerships
  • Identify and recommend new partnerships and negotiate contracts with marketing partners in conjunction with the Marketing & Communications Director

Minimum Qualifications

  • A home base in the southwestern region of Virginia including Roanoke, Blacksburg, Bristol, and surrounding area with familiarity with the local communities
  • Willingness and ability to work and travel frequently throughout the southwestern region of Virginia with occasional travel required across the state to include our main office location in North Chesterfield
  • 5+ years' experience in public relations, marketing, communications
  • Experience managing small to mid-sized marketing projects with deadlines
  • Experience developing marketing plans and drafting complex communications
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to convey complex concepts to large, diverse audiences in person or electronically
  • Ability to independently prioritize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Knowledge of social media measurement and analytics tools
  • Ability to work effectively within a marketing team and cross-functionally with other divisions and department
  • Ability to proofread, maintain brand consistency and ensure high quality work
  • Ability to solve problems creatively
  • Knowledge of basic marketing concepts, strategies and tactics
  • Understanding of content strategy, writing marketing content and design basics

Additional Considerations

Work Environment:

  • This position travels frequently throughout the southwestern region of Virginia with occasional travel required across the state including our main office location in North Chesterfield.
  • When not traveling this position works remotely as a typical office environment with considerable time in a sitting, stationary position operating a computer and other office equipment including typing and keying
  • Frequently communicate with vendors, employees, and guests; must be able to exchange accurate information accordingly
  • Occasionally bend and squat to lift or move boxes or supplies
  • Occasionally lift, carry, and move up to 20 pounds unassisted
  • Frequent travel required
