Description
Department: VIR EMS
Reports To: VIR EMS Director
Purpose: The purpose of this position is to protect life and property by responding swiftly to fires, vehicle extrications, fuel spills, and other emergencies during racetrack events
Job Responsibilities:
  • Ensure the assigned rescue unit is checked and ready for service.
  • Respond to all incidents on and off the track as directed.
  • Extinguish vehicle/grass fires as needed
  • Assist the driver in getting out of the vehicle
  • Perform flat tows either with the rope or the strap
  • Inspect the vehicles to be towed for tow points.
  • Assist wrecker/rollback with loading and unloading as needed.
  • Assist maintenance department with repairs to barriers as directed.
  • Apply Oil Dry as needed for spills on the race surface or the access roads on VIR property.
  • If posted on Pit Road, ensure you have a fire bottle, and it has a full charge.
  • Keep the rescue units clean at all times

Requirements
  • Wear provided personal protection equipment
  • Working in a high-pressure environment
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs. unassisted and carry for small distances.
  • Firefighter 1 certification
  • Must have a valid driver license
  • Background check required
  • Drug test may be requested
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
