Job description

The Seat Fabrication Technician is responsible for the fabrication, assembly, repair, modification, and refurbishment of aircraft seating components for a variety of aircraft, including piston aircraft, turboprops, light jets, and large cabin business jets. This position supports interior refurbishment and full cabin renovation projects by constructing and repairing seat structures, foam components, upholstery substrates, and related seating assemblies while ensuring compliance with FAA regulations, manufacturer specifications, and company quality standards.



Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Remove seat covers, repair seats and put seats back together
  • Make and cut patterns/leather
  • Pull leather covers over foam cushions and backs (string and Velcro pulls)
  • Prepare interior components for recovering by removing old covers, cleaning and sanding parts.
  • Re-upholster aircraft components as needed.
  • Help with other miscellaneous interiors projects.
  • Assist with facility maintenance and upkeep.
  • Maintain a safe work environment and follow all safety rules and regulations.
  • Other projects and duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Knowledge of measuring, layout, cutting, and fabrication techniques.
  • Skilled in the use of hand tools, power tools, and fabrication equipment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Aircraft interior refurbishment experience.
  • FAA Airframe Certificate.
  • Experience working with business jet interiors.
  • Experience with custom seat foam fabrication and contouring.
  • Knowledge of flammability requirements and aviation-approved materials.
  • Experience supporting VIP and executive aircraft interior completions.


Physical Requirements

  • Frequently stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, and climb.
  • Lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly.
  • Perform repetitive hand and arm movements.
  • Work in confined aircraft cabin spaces.
  • Ability to distinguish colors, patterns, and material variations.
  • Ability to use precision measuring instruments and hand tools.


Work Environment:

Frequent exposure to general shop conditions.

Frequent exposure to airborne particles and small enclosed areas i.e. small aircraft interiors.

Occasional exposure to seasonal weather.
