Job description

Position Summary

The Industrial Refrigeration Technician โ€“ Ammonia (NH) is responsible for installing, operating, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing industrial refrigeration systems and equipment. This role ensures optimal system performance, safety, reliability, and compliance with applicable industry regulations and company standards.

The technician will diagnose mechanical and electrical issues, perform preventive and corrective maintenance, and support customer and plant operations by keeping industrial refrigeration systems operating safely, reliably, and efficiently.

This position is specifically focused on industrial refrigeration systems, including ammonia (NH). We are seeking mid-to-senior-level technicians with hands-on experience in industrial environments such as cold storage facilities, food processing plants, refrigerated warehouses, manufacturing facilities, and distribution centers.

This is not a residential HVAC position.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install, operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair industrial ammonia refrigeration systems
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and refrigeration system issues
  • Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on industrial refrigeration equipment
  • Service compressors, evaporators, condensers, pumps, vessels, valves, and associated refrigeration components
  • Troubleshoot system controls, sensors, safeties, and electrical components
  • Identify system performance issues and recommend appropriate repairs or improvements
  • Perform compressor rebuilds and other major equipment repairs based on experience
  • Assist with equipment installations, startups, shutdowns, and system commissioning
  • Perform leak detection and assist with ammonia system-related service issues
  • Read and interpret mechanical drawings, P&IDs, electrical schematics, and equipment documentation
  • Maintain accurate service records, inspection documentation, and repair reports
  • Communicate professionally with customers, facility personnel, and internal team members
  • Follow established safety procedures while working around ammonia refrigeration systems and industrial equipment
  • Support plant and customer operations by helping maintain reliable and efficient refrigeration systems
  • Participate in an on-call rotation when required
  • Travel to customer facilities throughout the assigned territory as needed

We are primarily seeking mid-to-senior-level Industrial Refrigeration Technicians with:

  • Hands-on industrial refrigeration experience
  • Experience working with ammonia (NH) refrigeration systems
  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills
  • Experience servicing industrial compressors and refrigeration equipment
  • Knowledge of industrial refrigeration fundamentals and system operation
  • Ability to diagnose problems and determine appropriate repairs
  • Ability to work independently in the field
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers and team members
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
  • Ability and willingness to travel throughout the assigned service territory
