FULL SALARY RANGE: $30.88 - $43.44
ANTICIPATED HIRING SALARY RANGE: $30.88 - $37.16
This is a Full-time/hourly position.
BENEFITS:

REMOTE / HYBRID: Typical schedules are in-office Monday through Friday. Remote and flexible scheduling may be discussed upon hire and with supervisor approval.

About the Role
As an Accountant, you will perform technical accounting duties and analyze financial information to ensure the Village maintains accurate and timely financial records. This role supports month-end and year-end close, capital project asset tracking, and preparation for the annual audit. You will contribute to budgeting processes, special projects, and provide essential financial insights that support sound decision-making across the organization.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Reconcile all Village bank accounts and ensure accuracy of deposits and withdrawals.
• Perform month-end and year-end close activities, including general ledger entries and reconciliations.
• Reconcile investments and interest allocations by fund.
• Maintain capital project assets, including acquisitions, improvements, disposals, and depreciation.
• Prepare work papers for the annual audit and respond to auditor requests.
• Assist in preparing the annual comprehensive financial report and annual budget.
• Respond to financial inquiries from departments and external stakeholders.
• Support special projects such as system implementations, process improvements, analyses, and report development.
What We're Looking For
Skills & Knowledge
• Knowledge of GAAP, governmental accounting standards, and financial management systems.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word.
• Ability to prepare clear and concise reports.
• Ability to analyze complex financial data, calculate figures and variances, and interpret policies and regulations.
• Strong communication skills-both oral and written.
• Ability to work independently and maintain effective working relationships.
Education & Experience
• Two years of professional accounting experience; governmental accounting or auditing experience preferred.
• Equivalent to a Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, public administration, business administration, or a related field.
• Governmental accounting coursework desired.
Working Conditions
Primarily an office environment, involving frequent sitting at a computer; occasional movement requiring full range of motion; and occasional lifting up to 25 lbs. May occasionally operate a motor vehicle for meetings or trainings. Work involves coordination with banks, auditors, grant-related institutions, and vendors.
