About Cà Phê Việt

Cà Phê Việt is a modern Vietnamese café bringing authentic Vietnamese coffee culture to San Francisco. We proudly serve bold Vietnamese robusta coffee alongside handcrafted drinks, fresh bánh mì, pastries, and modern Vietnamese specialties in a welcoming, community-focused environment.

Behind every sandwich we serve is a commitment to craftsmanship, consistency, and authentic flavors. We're looking for someone who takes pride in creating high-quality food that helps deliver the experience our guests have come to expect.

About the Role

We're looking for a dependable, detail-oriented Prep Cook to independently manage our weekly protein and ingredient preparation for our bánh mì menu.

This position is responsible for producing approximately 400 pounds of marinated and grilled meats each week, along with vegetable preparation and a small selection of savory pastries. Success in this role comes from following recipes precisely, managing preparation timelines, and consistently producing food that meets our quality standards.

While you won't be cooking at the café itself, your work is essential to every guest experience we create.

  • Prepare, marinate, and season meats according to established recipes.
  • Manage marination schedules
  • Grill meats in coordination with scheduled pickup to ensure freshness and quality.
  • Produce approximately 400 pounds of meat each week.
  • Prepare 1–2 varieties of savory meat-filled pastries.
  • Monitor product quality and consistency throughout production.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and food-safe kitchen.
  • Follow all food safety and sanitation procedures.
  • Manage your workflow independently to ensure production is completed on schedule.

Qualifications

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Comfortable working independently with minimal supervision.

  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.
  • Currently Possesses Food Handler Certification

What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate is someone who enjoys kitchen production, values consistency, and takes ownership of their work. This role requires someone who can be trusted to work independently while maintaining our quality standards every week.

We're less concerned with formal titles than we are with finding someone who is reliable, organized, and committed to producing excellent food.

Craft Matters Every batch of meat, every vegetable, and every pastry should reflect our commitment to quality and consistency.

Always Learning We're constantly refining our recipes, techniques, and processes.

One Team Even while working independently, you'll play an essential role in helping the café succeed.

  • $20–$22/hour, depending on experience
  • Paid training
  • Flexible schedule within production deadlines
  • Up to 10 hours per week
  • Opportunity to grow rapidly within expanding business
  • Opportunity to experiment, enhance, and create new recipes
