The Video Director will support university brand, enrollment, and fundraising goals by creating high-quality, effective video and commercial-level products that tell rich, motivational stories. This position will expand video production capabilities in-house, collaborate with media services for requested livestream productions, and will serve to further implement passionate, innovative creativity to existing workflows for creating target-specific media.
Work Location: Virginia Beach, VA
Salary: $65,000 - $70,000 annually
Essential duties:
  • Drive creative vision and on-set execution of assigned video projects in collaboration with the Producer and video team.
  • Develop compelling narratives for video projects and livestream events, as assigned, in collaboration with video team members.
  • Operate a camera, drone, and audio equipment as assigned.
  • Serve as visual director for assigned livestream events. In collaboration with Media Services, this role is responsible for selecting which camera feed to broadcast, managing visual elements, and clearly communicating cues to camera operators to capture the best shots for the viewers.
  • Serve as primary editor for event livestream videos at the post-production stage to distribute to stakeholders in a timely manner.
  • Support video team in pre-production tasks such as scriptwriting, storyboarding and concept development.
  • Edit high-resolution video, images, and accompanying audio in relation to the desired production goal for Marketing projects.
  • Attend and actively participate in location scouts to determine production needs alongside the Producer.
  • Attend and actively engage in department and client meetings.
  • Interact with key stakeholders to understand expectations.
  • Consistently meet deadlines and deliver high-quality work.
  • Ensure quality control and quality assurance are met throughout each assigned project.
  • Export assigned projects for delivery and finishing.
  • Maintain consistent Regent branding across all projects, using the designated delivery platform for each project.
  • Assist in maintaining marketing's photo, video, and audio equipment and perform regular inventory checks.
  • Manage and maintain video footage and project assets in accordance with the video archival process.
  • Collaborate with student workers and graduate assistants.
  • Proactively seek out additional responsibilities or projects as workload allows in support of the team and department goals.
  • Serve University Marketing Department as requested.
  • Assumes other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications:
  • Undergraduate or graduate degree in film, communication, or related discipline; equivalent work experience may be substituted in place of a degree
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional video experience in livestream direction, video ideation/scriptwriting, and/or marketing video production
  • A current portfolio highlighting video production, direction, and/or scriptwriting is required
  • An expert understanding of video and photo production, video editing, and workflow
  • Experience with video production software such as Adobe Premiere Pro is required
  • Experience with PTZ cameras, multi-cam video shoots, and livestream switchboards is preferred
  • Drone certification preferred

Candidates must have:
  • Strong communication skills and experience in making effective decisions in a fast-paced environment
