Video Prompt Engineer information

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a video prompt engineer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Video Prompt Engineer, you need expertise in video production, scripting, and an understanding of AI prompt engineering, often supported by experience with media editing tools and a background in computer science or related fields. Familiarity with platforms like Adobe Premiere, After Effects, and generative AI systems such as OpenAI, Runway, or Synthesia is typically required. Strong creativity, attention to detail, and effective communication skills help in crafting prompts that yield high-quality, contextually relevant video outputs. These abilities are crucial for bridging the gap between technical AI capabilities and compelling visual storytelling, ensuring that generated video content meets project objectives.

What is a video prompt engineer?

A Video Prompt Engineer is a professional who designs and optimizes prompts to guide artificial intelligence (AI) systems in generating or editing video content. They work closely with AI models to fine-tune instructions, ensuring the resulting videos meet specific creative, technical, or business goals. Their responsibilities often include scripting effective prompts, testing AI outputs, and collaborating with developers and creatives to enhance video quality and relevance. As AI video tools become more advanced, the role of a Video Prompt Engineer is becoming increasingly important in industries like advertising, entertainment, and digital content creation.

Are prompt engineers still in demand?

Prompt engineers, especially those working with AI and machine learning models, are increasingly in demand as organizations seek to optimize AI outputs and develop advanced applications. Skills in natural language processing, AI tools, and prompt design are valuable in industries such as technology, entertainment, and marketing, with job growth expected to continue as AI adoption expands.

What are some typical challenges video prompt engineers face when collaborating with creative teams?

Video Prompt Engineers often work closely with creative teams to develop prompts that yield visually engaging and contextually accurate video outputs from generative AI models. One common challenge is translating creative concepts into precise, technical prompts that the AI can interpret effectively. Balancing the creative vision with the technical constraints of the model requires strong communication and iterative problem-solving. Additionally, staying updated on the latest advancements in generative video technology is essential to ensure the prompts leverage new capabilities while maintaining high-quality results.

How do I become a video prompt engineer?

To become a video prompt engineer, develop skills in AI and machine learning, particularly in natural language processing and computer vision. Gain experience with relevant tools and platforms such as generative AI models, video editing software, and scripting languages like Python. Building a portfolio of projects and staying updated on industry advancements can also improve job prospects.

What is the difference between Video Prompt Engineer vs AI Content Creator?

AspectVideo Prompt EngineerAI Content Creator
Required CredentialsKnowledge of AI models, prompt engineering, multimedia toolsCreativity, familiarity with AI tools, content development
Work EnvironmentTech companies, media agencies, AI startupsDigital media, marketing firms, content platforms
Industry UsageAI-driven video production, multimedia projectsSocial media, advertising, online content
Search & Comparison IntentUnderstanding roles in AI video creationCreating AI-generated content for digital platforms

The main difference is that a Video Prompt Engineer specializes in designing prompts for AI models to generate videos, focusing on technical prompt optimization. An AI Content Creator develops digital content using AI tools, often across various media types. While both roles involve AI and creativity, the Video Prompt Engineer is more technical and focused on video-specific prompts, whereas the AI Content Creator emphasizes content production and storytelling across platforms.

Job description

Alice.io (formerly known as ActiveFence) is a leading trust, safety, and security company. Just like 'Alice' herself, we go down the rabbit hole into the emerging world of AI and focus on safeguarding these technologies. In a world where AI has fundamentally changed the nature of risk, Alice offers coverage across the entire AI lifecycle.

We're currently on the ground floor of an exciting new initiative: building an "Elite Collective" of the world's premier GenAI experts—high-stakes, project-based work for the "best of the best" specialists in the industry.

Work is on-demand and project-dependent, scaling up and down based on the needs of the client. This is not a high-volume, repetitive role; it is an opportunity to be tapped for specific, high-impact interventions when your unique expertise is required.

The most sophisticated technology challenges in the world are waiting down the rabbit hole. We're looking for the sharpest minds to help us secure the frontier.

The invitation is open: Come join us at the tea party.

About the Position

We are seeking versatile GenAI Specialists to join our expert collective. This role encompasses two complementary focus areas—and we're looking for individuals who excel in one or both:

Focus Area 1: Adversarial Analysis

Design and execute adversarial prompts to identify weaknesses in cutting-edge AI systems, including LLMs, Text-to-Image, Text-to-Video, Multi-Modal models, and AI Agents. Analyze outputs, categorize vulnerabilities, and translate findings into actionable safety insights.

Focus Area 2: Creative Prompt Design

Craft diverse, context-rich prompts that challenge AI models across policy domains. Blend linguistic creativity with sociocultural insight to simulate realistic, localized use cases - from benign edge cases to sophisticated deception attempts.

Key Responsibilities

Adversarial Analysis:

  • Design adversarial prompts to test AI systems across multiple modalities
  • Identify, categorize, and document model weaknesses or unsafe outputs
  • Support data annotation, curation, and quality control processes
  • Summarize findings into structured reports or data templates

Creative Prompt Design:

  • Produce high-quality, diverse prompt sets reflecting global linguistic and cultural nuances
  • Research online behaviors of threat actors to inform realistic prompt design
  • Cover multiple policy areas, such as Hate Speech, Sexual/Graphic Harm, or Terrorism
  • Adapt prompts for multiple languages and dialects where applicable

Requirements:
  • Proven experience with Generative AI models (direct technical experience not required)
  • Understanding of risk taxonomies (e.g., harm categories, policy tiers)
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational capabilities
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines
  • Ability to balance creativity with policy sensitivity

Language Requirements

For Creative Prompt Design focus: We are actively seeking native speakers in the following languages:

  • English | Italian | Spanish | German | French | Japanese | Chinese (Mandarin) | Korean | Arabic
  • Native-level fluency is essential for crafting culturally authentic, nuanced prompts that reflect real-world linguistic patterns and regional contexts.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong creative writing background (journalism, fiction, or linguistics)
  • Familiarity with various model types (Text-to-Text, Text-to-Image, Text-to-Video)
  • Experience with prompt injection techniques, jailbreaks, and red-teaming methodologies
  • Prior work in model evaluation, prompt engineering, or safety analysis
  • Regional expertise or cultural fluency in specific geopolitical areas
  • Proficiency in one or more non-English languages

All applicants will be required to complete a screening exam and background check.
