Project Management Team

The Project Manager will manage cross-functional projects from initiation through to closure, ensuring delivery within agreed scope, timelines, and budgets.

This is an opportunity for a project management professional who enjoys bringing structure, clarity, and momentum to complex work. You will support Frontiersโ€™ strategic priorities by coordinating projects across departments, maintaining robust project documentation, managing risks and dependencies, and ensuring clear visibility of progress and decisions.

Youโ€™ll work closely with stakeholders across Product, Editorial, Technology, Marketing, Operations, project sponsors, and OKR owners to define project goals, requirements, deliverables, and success measures. You will support consistent and effective project delivery by applying agreed project management practices, using appropriate tools and templates, and providing regular, high-quality project updates and reporting to support visibility, alignment, and decision-making.

Beyond day-to-day project delivery, you will help ensure projects are well documented, visible, and kept up to date through clear project records, regular updates, and structured reporting. You will support effective stakeholder engagement by organizing and facilitating workshops, governance sessions, and project meetings, helping to capture decisions, actions, risks, dependencies, and next steps. This role would suit someone who is organized, proactive, confident in stakeholder communication, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, matrixed environment.

What you will do
  • Manage multiple concurrent projects across departments, ensuring alignment with defined scope, timelines, budgets, and strategic priorities.
  • Develop and maintain project documentation, including project charters, plans, schedules, risk registers, action logs, and status reports.
  • Organize and facilitate regular project meetings, ensuring accurate tracking of actions, risks, issues, decisions, and next steps.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define project goals, requirements, deliverables, ownership, and success measures.
  • Communicate project progress, risks, issues, and dependencies clearly to stakeholders.
  • Escalate critical blockers and risks when needed to support timely and controlled project delivery.
  • Coordinate with Product, Technology, Editorial, Marketing, operational leads, project sponsors, and OKR owners to ensure alignment with strategic initiatives.
  • Ensure projects are well managed, clearly documented, and regularly reported in line with agreed delivery practices and operational rhythms.
  • Support audit and review processes by maintaining accurate and up-to-date project records and documentation.
  • Contribute to OKR planning and delivery tracking for assigned projects.
  • Participate in post-project reviews, capture lessons learned and apply improvements to future project delivery.
  • Share observations, lessons learned, and practical suggestions with the project management team to support consistent and effective project delivery within the Strategy Office.
  • Stay informed on project management best practices and apply them to improve delivery outcomes.
Skills, Knowledge and Experience
  • 3โ€“5 years of experience in project management or a related role.
  • Proven track record of delivering medium-sized projects with cross-functional teams.
  • Experience managing projects in a flexible and fast-moving environment, with the ability to bring structure to shifting priorities, changing requirements, and evolving stakeholder needs.
  • Strong understanding of project delivery across initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, and closure.
  • Experience with project scheduling, risk management, dependency tracking, and status reporting.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build effective relationships, manage expectations, and communicate confidently with colleagues at all levels, including senior leaders and executives.
  • Familiarity with strategic alignment and OKR-based delivery frameworks.
  • Experience with Agile and/or Waterfall project management methodologies.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365, Jira, Confluence, and collaboration tools.
  • Understanding of project delivery in digital, publishing, or operational transformation contexts.
  • Basic knowledge of change management and stakeholder engagement principles.
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills, with high attention to detail.
  • Ability to identify risks, dependencies, and blockers and manage them proactively.
  • Solution-oriented and proactive in removing obstacles to progress.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, matrixed environment.
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to build strong working relationships.
  • Excited about Frontiersโ€™ mission to make science open and enable healthy lives on a healthy planet.
Desirable
  • Professional certification such as CAPM, PMP, Agile/Scrum, or equivalent.
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in a relevant field such as Business, Management, Communications, or a related discipline.
  • Experience supporting OKR planning, delivery tracking, or strategic project reporting.
  • Experience working with external stakeholders such as contractors, consultants, or solution vendors.
  • We prioritize office presence and emphasize in-person collaboration, but also offer appropriate adjustments where needed, in line with company policy.
  • Extra wellbeing days on top of your annual leave allowance.
  • Up to 3 paid volunteering days each year.
  • 24/7 confidential Employee Assistance Programme (wellbeing, mental health, legal & financial support).
  • Learning & development support via the Frontiers Learning Hub.
