Director of Football Operations, Defensive Assistant Position Coach

Position: Director of Football Operations and Assistant Defensive Position Coach at Monmouth University Athletics Department.

Rate: $60,000 USD per year. Full time, on‑site.

Location: Monmouth University Main Campus, West Long Branch, NJ.

Responsibilities
  • Field Operations Responsibilities:
    • Schedule and supervise Student Managers and Field Assistants.
    • Control Practice Operation (equipment, scoreboard, practice clock, headsets, player‑coach communication, etc.).
    • Assist with video operations when needed.
    • Maintain Game Day Staff Communication System.
    • Coordinate game‑day setup of communication headsets.
  • Off‑Field Responsibilities:
    • Manage team notices, displays, and announcements.
    • Central scheduling of team meeting rooms.
    • Assist in coordinating team community outreach.
    • Serve as Sports Information liaison (releases, team pictures, roster, website, etc.).
    • Act as liaison for Strength & Conditioning staff, Equipment Manager, and Academic Support.
    • Assist Head Coach with all team and personnel matters.
    • Plan and assist with alumni events, fundraising, and special activities (annual team dinner, golf outing, team building events, fundraising events).
  • Roster Administrative Responsibilities:
    • Coordinate team open tryouts.
    • Prepare weekly CARA reports for compliance.
    • Manage player game tickets/passes list.
    • Assist General Manager with roster management, player eligibility, and housing (on‑ and off‑campus).
    • Oversee overall player eligibility.
  • Team Information Management:
    • Oversee Teamwork’s and Arms databases (players, schedules, addresses, phone numbers).
  • Student Managers:
    • Interview, hire, and supervise Student Field Managers.
    • Coordinate field activities and develop weekly work schedules.
  • Travel Coordination:
    • Coordinate all travel details: hotel, flights, buses, meals, itineraries, and game‑day logistics.
    • Manage team logistics for home and away games, transportation, and accommodations.
    • Oversee travel party head counts and advance game‑day staff itineraries.
  • Field Equipment:
    • Inventory, care, storage, and repair of field equipment.
    • Maintain field equipment budget and solicitate price quotes.
    • Select vendors and prepare purchase orders for equipment replacement.
  • Recruiting Assistance: Assist Recruiting Coordinator with official and unofficial visits and staff travel.
  • Camps & Clinics Assistance: Assist Camps and Clinics Coordinator with prospect and summer passing camps.
  • General Management Support: Assist General Manager with program administrative and roster management duties.
  • Video Assistance: Assist Video Coordinator with pre‑ and post‑practice/competition video setup.
  • Technology Support: Assist Technology Coordinator with price quotes and maintenance for team communication systems.
  • Coaching Responsibilities:
    • Assistant Defensive Position Coach as designated by Defensive Coordinator.
    • Assist Defensive Position Coach in coaching, evaluating, and organizing position meetings.
    • Research techniques and drills, assist in identifying skill sets and recruitable metrics.
    • Assist with special teams as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Experience in a collegiate football program as a coach, player, or administrator.
  • Valid driver’s license with no serious violations (Type A) in the past five (5) years and no more than three (3) moving violations (Type B) in the past three (3) years.
  • Familiarity with Monmouth University Vehicle Use Policy.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master’s Degree.
  • Division I coaching and/or playing experience.
