Lead Monitor Technician
Job Description
Purpose & Scope:
The Lead Monitor Technician is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of both the Cardiac Telemetry Monitoring and Remote Safety Monitoring (Avasys) programs. This role requires advanced competency in cardiac rhythm interpretation, patient safety monitoring, and the effective use of both telemetry and remote video monitoring systems. The Lead Technician will serve as a clinical and operational resource to monitor technicians, ensuring high-quality, accurate monitoring and timely escalation of patient concerns.
The Lead Monitor Technician will be responsible for scheduling and timekeeping for all monitor technicians, supporting onboarding and training, and collaborating with nursing leadership to ensure appropriate staffing coverage and service alignment with patient care needs. This individual will demonstrate strong communication and organizational skills, the ability to lead in a dynamic environment, and proficiency in generating and analyzing departmental reports to support quality improvement and program development.
The Lead Monitor Technician must demonstrate a thorough understanding of both cardiac and patient safety monitoring processes, and foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and patient-centered care.
Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
Degree in a health care related field is preferred.
Experience:
  • Minimum of 2- 3 years' experience as a telemetry monitoring technician, video monitoring technician, or similar role in a hospital setting required.
  • Prior experience in a lead or supervisory role strongly preferred

Certification/Licensure:
  • Certified Rhythm Analysis Technician (CRAT) preferred.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities
  • Coursework in cardiac rhythm and analysis is preferred.
  • Proven understanding of cardiac rhythms, telemetry systems, and remote patient safety monitoring workflows.
  • Completion of a basic arrhythmia recognition course preferred.
  • Additional training in video monitoring safety programs preferred.
