Job description

Tommy's is looking for a Learning and Development Content Writer to support the Learning & Development team with designing technical and instructional content for training materials provided to new franchise partners and site leaders running Tommy's Express locations across the country. This role will help create and maintain impactful curriculum, modules, videos, manuals, and materials to help our franchise partners and site teams operate their business successfully and in accordance with corporate standards. The ideal candidate will have the ability to take technical instruction and deliver it in a way that's easy for a learner to digest and understand.

Position Responsibilities:
  • Write training material to help all franchise partners, site leaders, and team members in understanding the core functions of our car wash business model through compelling, interactive and engaging content
  • Craft compelling, effective, on-brand learning experiences for franchise partners
  • Update and maintain various types of training materials and methods to engage franchise partners and enhance the learning process
  • Utilize instructional design principles and techniques to develop eLearning modules and assessments
  • Work across multiple teams and platforms to develop and deliver content that demonstrates a deep understanding of our core business operations and wash functions
  • Design and improve both existing and new training materials across various platforms that capture ongoing franchise partner training topics and company knowledge base to ensure seamless execution and clarity of message
  • Format varieties include eLearning modules, workbooks, PDFs, assessments, slides, photos, videos, and scripts
  • Creation platforms include Articulate 360 (Rise/Storyline) and Adobe Creative Cloud (Express, InDesign, Premiere Pro, Acrobat)
  • Liaise with subject matter experts to ensure that content creation and quality is aligned with company standards and expectations
  • Take ownership of ad hoc projects from end-to-end, collaborating seamlessly with cross-functional stakeholders internally and externally
  • Assist with coordinating and hosting learning and development sessions live or over video for both new and existing franchise partners
  • Evaluate the impact of training material and sessions, as well as stay up to date on industry trends, to drive continuous improvements
  • Effectively maintain standards of quality and manage tight deadlines of competing priorities with all projects and initiatives

Position Qualifications & Candidate Attributes:
  • Advanced degree or equivalent formal training/certifications in Education, Instructional Design, Communications, or related field
  • 3+ years of relevant experience, such as curriculum development, creation of training materials and/or instructional manuals, or other related professional writing and content development
  • Exceptional oral, written, and interpersonal communications skills; ability to quickly learn and adopt the voice of the company and leadership
  • Proficient, proven copywriting and editing skills; writing sample will be requested during interview process
  • Video production and graphic design abilities a strong plus
  • Deep understanding of training technologies and ability to execute messaging across multiple platforms including web, video and printed materials
  • Ability to collaborate across multiple departments to develop and organize the most effective internal and external training materials for our company and franchise partners
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Natural curiosity and eagerness to learn in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work independently, multitask and prioritize workload to meet deadlines
  • Extremely detail-oriented with desire for 100% accuracy
  • Strong mechanical aptitude, experience in a structured corporate environment preferred

Work Environment and Physical Demands:
This job operates in a professional office environment. Office hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00am - 5:00pm. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and operates primarily indoors with limited to no travel expectations.
To successfully perform the essential functions of this job, team member must be able to:
