Job description

The Digital Media Specialist is an artist: a skilled filmmaker and photographer who creates impressive and moving content for a wide range of purposes within the Advancement department and other departments at Culver, with the primary objective being increased awareness and student/camper/donor acquisition. As the primary content creator for our social media channels, the Digital Media Specialist will understand the “voice of the customer” and create content that will drive enrollment and donor engagement.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Executes high-quality video and photography projects within specific budgets and timelines, as assigned.
    • Develops content plan, shoots and edits video/photos all on a strict deadline.
    • Manages pre-production work, script writing/selection, casting, staging.
    • Coordinates production, camera, lighting, audio, support staff.
    • Creates complementary graphics and captions to enhance the final product.
  • In coordination with the Digital Marketing Manager and the Digital Media Team, this person creates and manages the social media content calendar for our official accounts.
  • Tracks social media metrics and recommends areas of improvement.
  • Evaluates and recommends new A/V products and technologies that benefit CEF.
  • Contributes creative ideas to better engage audiences in a collaborative team environment.

In addition to these responsibilities, this person will contribute to our mission by serving students in additional commitments to realize our promise of a whole person education. This includes a commitment to students in areas such as spiritual life, academics, or athletics along with supporting student activities and campus life.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Digital Media, Film and Video Production, Multimedia Journalism, Marketing, or a combination of education and work experience in a related field.
  • Minimum two years in a role, professional or avocational, with content creation responsibilities, especially for social media.
  • Proven ability to propose creative ideas and a willingness to learn new skills.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Proven attention to detail and follow-up.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to operate the latest cameras and filmmaking equipment.
  • Computer Skills: MS Office, Canva, Adobe Creative Suite (e.g. Premiere Pro, After Effects, Illustrator, InDesign) or comparable video/photo editing software, major social media platforms.
  • A portfolio of work will be requested.
