Job description

Overview
The Athletics Department is accepting applications for a Part-Time Athletics Commentator for video streams throughout the season. The successful candidate will provide professional, engaging and informative play-by-play commentary for assigned AUM Athletics home contests while helping enhance the overall game-day experience for viewers.
Pay Rate: $25.00/hour

Auburn University at Montgomery reserves the right once interviewing has begun to stop accepting applications. Based on funding source, applicant cannot be or become an AUM student while working in this position.
Responsibilities
  • Serve as the play-by-play commentator for assigned AUM Athletics video streaming events on the FloSports platform.
  • Provide accurate, engaging and informative commentary throughout each assigned contest.
  • Prepare relevant notes, statistics, rosters and other background information about each participating team prior to the contest.
  • Maintain neutral and professional commentary while demonstrating respect for all participating teams.
  • Comply with all applicable NCAA Division II and Gulf South Conference rules, regulations and policies.
  • Interact professionally with officials, coaches, student-athletes, University personnel and spectators.
  • Assist with broadcast production as needed, including switching between camera angles when necessary.
  • Work collaboratively with the AUM Athletics game management and broadcast team to ensure a smooth and professional production.
  • Arrive at the venue approximately 30 minutes to one hour prior to the scheduled contest to prepare for the broadcast, confirm equipment is functioning properly and ensure interviews and other broadcast elements are loaded and ready.
  • Remain on site until the conclusion of each assigned event.
  • Maintain reliable attendance and availability for evening and weekend events.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Availability to work nights and weekends.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience providing play-by-play commentary for video streams at an NCAA, NAIA, NJCAA, AHSAA or AISA institution.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Two (2) years of experience as a play-by-play commentator at an NCAA institution.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of applicable University, NCAA and Gulf South Conference rules, practices and procedures.
  • Strong verbal communication, public speaking and storytelling skills.
  • Positive attitude and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, live-event environment.
  • Ability to remain composed and professional under pressure.
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Strong preparation, organizational and attention-to-detail skills.
  • Ability to work independently while also collaborating with members of the broadcast and game management team.
