What are remote video editor jobs?

Remote video editor jobs involve editing and assembling recorded footage into finished video projects while working from a location outside of a traditional office, such as from home. These professionals use editing software to cut, arrange, and enhance video content for various purposes, including films, advertisements, social media, and corporate communications. Remote video editors collaborate with clients or creative teams online, manage deadlines, and may also be responsible for adding effects, sound, and graphics. This role requires strong technical skills, creativity, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

How do remote video editors typically collaborate with producers and other team members during post-production?

Remote video editors commonly use cloud-based platforms and collaboration tools to share drafts, receive feedback, and manage project assets. Communication is often maintained through regular video calls, chat apps, and project management software to ensure everyone is aligned on creative direction and deadlines. Editors should be comfortable with asynchronous feedback and proactive in clarifying project requirements, as team members may be in different time zones. Building strong communication skills and a systematic workflow are key to succeeding in this remote and collaborative environment.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Video Editor in remote jobs, and why are they important?

To thrive as a remote Video Editor, you need expertise in video editing techniques, a strong creative vision, and proficiency with editing software, typically supported by a relevant degree or portfolio of work. Familiarity with industry-standard tools like Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, and cloud-based collaboration platforms is essential. Excellent time management, communication skills, and self-motivation help remote editors stand out when coordinating with distributed teams. These competencies ensure high-quality, timely content production and effective collaboration in a remote work environment.

Collier.Simon is an independent, full-service creative agency in Los Angeles. We work with our client partners to develop creative solutions that truly move the needle. Clients range from Fortune 500-type household names to up-and-comers across a variety of industries / verticals. We are looking for freelance Video Editors with varying experience with video editing and motion design for social and digital advertising. We want someoneย  whoโ€™s excited to craft content that lives and thrives in todayโ€™s media landscapeโ€”especially short-form, digital-first formats that move quickly, look great, and feel relevant. Youโ€™ll be joining a collaborative, fast-paced team where taste, craft, and curiosity around AI tools are essential to how we create at scale.

What You Bring
  • At least 1-2 years professional experience editing and animating content for brands, agencies, or content studios

  • Strong command of Adobe Premiere and After Effects; comfortable crafting video narratives from raw assets to final delivery
    ย
  • Must be able to work from Figma
    ย
  • Deep understanding of motion design principles, visual rhythm, and how to tell stories through kinetic type, transitions, and effects
    ย
  • Demonstrated experience editing content for social media, paid digital, and branded video (sizzle reels, UGC-style edits, motion graphics, etc.)
    ย
  • A strong creative eyeโ€”even if youโ€™re not a designer, you know what looks good and feels modern
    ย
  • Ability to work quickly, juggle multiple edits, understand constructive feedback and stay organized under pressure
    ย
  • Experience collaborating with producers, art directors, and copywriters in a fast-turn creative environment
    ย
  • Comfort working in cloud-based, remote workflows (Google Drive, Frame.io, Slack, Wrike)
    ย
What You'll Do
  • Edit high-quality video content for a range of formats, including social cutdowns, product videos, performance ads, sizzles, UGC remixes, and digital launches
    ย

    ย
  • Localize or adapt content for multi-location or store-level executions, working efficiently across variants
    ย
  • Use AI tools (when applicable) to enhance speed, inspiration, or outputโ€”without compromising creative integrity
    ย
  • Actively participate in brainstorms, workflow planning, and collaborative problem-solving sessions
Bonus Points If You...
  • Have worked on retail, CPG, or multi-market campaigns with many moving pieces and deliverables
    ย
  • Are comfortable creating templates or frameworks for scalable video output
    ย
  • Have a background in design, art direction, or videography
    ย
