Job description

Description:

The Junior Media Producer is a foundational role within the WholeHome™ Media team and provides hands-on execution of video editing and production support across a variety of projects. This is an entry-level seat for someone with strong foundational video skills and a proven track record making social video that performs.

This position supports the full production process: assisting in pre-production prep, serving as crew on shoots, and owning a high volume of post-production and delivery work. The Junior Media Producer works directly under the Media Producer, alongside editorial staff and contractors, to ensure each project is delivered within the creative and technical scope defined for it.

Outside of editing and production responsibilities, the Junior Media Producer must have a knack for troubleshooting technology and video systems, understand disciplined video data management, and be able to work under pressure and tight deadlines, often in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment.

This position requires significant travel and time away from the office.

5 Major Roles:

  • Own a high volume of post-production work: cut short-form social video, build versioned cutdowns, and generate captions from beginning to delivery
  • Serve as reliable second crew on shoots, supporting camera, audio, lighting, and grip under the direction of the Lead Producer
  • Provide technically sound, high-quality capture and data management of video, audio, and photography assets in the field and in studio
  • Maintain video and photography equipment and the physical studio space
  • Professionally represent and promote the WholeHome Media brand online and in the community

At WholeHome™ Media, the Junior Media Producer will:

  • Consistently maintain a ‘customer-first’ perspective
  • Collaborate with the WholeHome and Barron teams to deliver high-quality media products
  • Cut short-form social videos (9:16, 4:5, 16:9) from existing footage libraries and new shoots
  • Build cutdowns and versioned deliverables from hero edits (:40s, :30s, :15s, :08s)
  • Generate and QC captions and SRT files for every deliverable before it reaches review
  • Publish and organize finished work across YouTube, Wistia, and client channels
  • Log, tag, and file footage and finished assets in our media catalog per naming standards
  • Participate in pre-production creative meetings and help prep shot lists, gear, and logistics
  • Serve as second crew on client shoots: camera B, audio, lighting, grip, and data wrangling
  • Support studio productions (podcast and interview shoots) including setup, framing, and teardown
  • Back up and manage media on set the same day as every shoot, with no footage living only on a card or laptop
  • Operate photography equipment to create useful photos for internal and client projects
  • Participate in internal workflow discussions and help streamline post-production processes
  • Maintain and manage assigned gear inventory and usage
  • Be available to work nights, weekends, and additional hours when a production requires it
  • Research and stay current with new equipment, technology, and software
  • Represent and promote the WholeHome Media brand online and in the community

An outstanding Junior Media Producer will have the following natural strengths and talents:

  • Integrity and trustworthiness
  • Customer-focused
  • Optimistic and a team player
  • Coachable: takes direction well and asks questions early
  • Clear-headed, calm, and able to handle stress
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently, efficiently, and cooperatively with others
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively across a busy edit queue
  • Attention to detail and a natural problem-solver
  • Ability to rebound from challenges that arise
  • Excellent follow-up and file-hygiene skills
  • A strong eye for pacing, rhythm, and story in short-form social editing

Required Experiences and Qualifications:

  • Must be highly motivated, coachable, and an energetic self-starter
  • 1 to 2+ years of hands-on video experience (professional, freelance, school, or a channel you built yourself)
  • A portfolio or reel with social video you cut yourself, and evidence it performed (views, growth, engagement, or client results)
  • Working proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro (our primary NLE)
  • Foundational camera, audio, and lighting knowledge: you can build a basic interview setup and get clean sound
  • Solid working knowledge of media data management and disciplined file organization
  • Comfort in the Apple/Mac ecosystem and the ability to troubleshoot basic technical issues
  • Ability to work under the pressure of tight deadlines and manage multiple deliverables simultaneously
  • May be called upon for lifting, pulling, climbing, bending, carrying, and pushing as needed to set up shoots and events
  • Able to lift and carry production gear (cases up to 50 pounds)
  • Willing to travel, including overnight and multi-day trips (we book and pay for all travel)
  • A valid driver’s license
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening

  • Experience in After Effects, DaVinci Resolve, or Photoshop
  • Experience shooting on mirrorless cinema-style cameras (Sony, Canon, etc.)
