Compensation: $19.00/hour

Schedule: Full Time, 40+ hours per week.

Overview:

The Asset Protection Associate is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for our associates and customers and securing Scheels' assets through the use of professional asset protection standards. This individual will be responsible for deterring criminal activity by adhering to a facility's security measures. The duties include reviewing video surveillance equipment to identify suspicious behaviors, patrolling the interior and exterior of  a property in set intervals, and only providing property access to authorizes individuals. You will work hand in hand with the corporate risk management leaders to ensure company safe practices are maintained.  

Responsibilities: 

Asset Protection

  • Communicate with leadership regarding encounters and investigations
  • Maintain a professional relationship with local authorities and law enforcement agencies
  • Collaborate with law enforcement and other local retailers to identify organized retail crime threats
  • Assist leadership with cash handling and transfers 
  • Observe customers and associates for potential acts of theft or fraud
  • Taking appropriate action to prevent theft, apprehending individuals engaged in theft activity when prevention is not effective
  • Conducting surveillance and apprehension of external theft suspects in compliance with company ethical standards and apprehension guidelines
  • Monitor video via CCTV and conduct on-site interviews
  • Maintaining all apprehension and investigation records according to company standards
  • Developing and maintaining knowledge and use of CCTV surveillance equipment
  • Assisting in monitoring store compliance with company policies and procedures relating to theft deterrence, safety, and operational controls, as assigned by the supervisor
  • Maintain a high visible deterrent to crime and positively influence the security incident rate as well as assist with inventory controls

Safety 

  • Help mitigate security risks to provide a safer environment for employees and customers
  • Welcome all customers, visitors, and vendors professionally and assist them in locating staff within the stores
  • Issue electric handicapped shopping carts to customers and assist in obtaining wheelchairs and shopping carts 
  • Examine and properly tag property being brought into the stores including personal property, equipment for service, and firearms
  • Watch facilities and parking areas on foot. Direct traffic during special events or heavy customer traffic, while enforcing parking regulations
  • Make regularly scheduled floor and exterior walks to ensure the safety and security of the customers and facility 
  • Complete monthly reports on safe or non-safe practices found on the sales floor or backstocks

First Responder

  • Help customers and staff with vehicle break-downs and lock-outs and retrieve shopping carts from parking areas
  • React as necessary and assist in handling any situations – shoplifting, medical emergencies, and inclement weather  
  • Ability to work assigned schedules which may include varied hours, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

  • Proven track record of strong communication and organization skills
  • Preference for candidates with prior Loss prevention (2-3 years) 
  • Currently certified or willing to become certified in CPR

Schedule

Ability to work nights, weekends, and/or early morning hours based on business needs.

Physical Requirements/Lifting Requirements:

Must be able to sit, stand, bend at the waist, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, walk, push/pull, lift, talk, and hear with or without reasonable accommodation.

Heavy work – Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
