Job description
Our Client seeks a visionary, collaborative and forward-thinking academic leader to serve as Vice Provost of the School of Creative Arts, Entertainment and Design. Reporting to the Provost & Chief Academic Officer, the Vice Provost will provide strategic leadership for academic quality, student success, faculty and academic manager development, program effectiveness, resource stewardship and partnerships with employers and community organizations.
This is a distinctive opportunity to shape learning across creative disciplines while helping students move from education to meaningful careers. The Schoolโs work brings together classroom learning, creative practice, experiential opportunities and external partnerships. The College has highlighted CAED-related experiences such as Design Week, the Future of Fashion Showcase and collaboration with Universidad Creativa in Costa Rica through fashion, exchange-program development and Collaborative Online International Learning.
The Vice Provost will provide leadership for the planning, implementation and evaluation of programs within the School; advocate for students, faculty, instructors, local business and industry; advise the Provost on professional and technical education; and actively engage community and employer partners to create new partnerships, responsive programs and revenue opportunities.
The School of Creative Arts, Entertainment and Design (CAED) prepares students for careers across the creative economy through programs in the arts, design, entertainment, media, and related disciplines. Serving approximately 45,000 students and supported by over 250 full-time faculty, CAED combines academic excellence with industry-relevant learning experiences that help students develop the creative, technical, and professional skills needed for success.
The school also includes English, Communications, and World Languages, disciplines that are central to the college's academic mission and student success agenda. These programs deliver many of the gateway and general education courses that students encounter early in their academic journey, helping build the communication, critical-thinking, cultural competency, and language skills that underpin achievement across virtually every field of study.
The Vice Provost for Creative Arts, Entertainment and Design provides strategic leadership for one of the institution's largest and most dynamic academic schools. This role helps ensure that academic programs remain responsive to student needs, industry trends, workforce demands, and emerging opportunities within the creative and entertainment sectors.
The successful candidate will understand the distinct needs of creative and career-connected programs and will be able to build a shared vision across disciplines and locations. The leader will strengthen academic pathways, support relevant curriculum and instruction, expand experiential learning and employment pipelines, and advocate for students, faculty and staff across the College and in the broader community.
Why This Role MattersThe Vice Provost will help connect creative education with student opportunity, industry relevance and community impact. This leader will:
- Set a clear and inspiring vision for the School and align that vision with the Collegeโs mission and strategic goals.
- Advance student success through strong pathways, degree maps, academic support and continuous improvement.
- Support high-quality curriculum, instruction, assessment and faculty professional development across creative disciplines.
- Build partnerships that expand experiential learning, community engagement and employment opportunities for students.
- Champion interdisciplinary collaboration among creative fields and across College functions.
- Steward people, budgets and resources while identifying opportunities for grants, fundraising and sustainable growth.
- Represent and advocate for the School, its programs and its people within the College and throughout the community.
CAED plays an important role in advancing the College's mission by creating pathways that connect students to high-demand and culturally impactful careers while supporting the region's creative economy in one of the most vibrant creative arts centers in the world.

- Articulate the Schoolโs mission, goals and achievements to internal and external stakeholders.
- Listen effectively to the needs and concerns of faculty, staff and students.
- Demonstrate a commitment to student success, including initiatives that improve retention, completion and academic achievement.
- Understand the needs of students from a wide range of backgrounds and experiences.
- Use data to inform decisions and program improvements.
- Emphasize outcomes assessment and continuous improvement in educational offerings.
- Embrace innovation and adapt to changes in the educational landscape, including technology and teaching methods.
- Anticipate and respond to emerging trends in higher education and relevant creative industries.
- Manage budgets and resources effectively while prioritizing academic quality.
- Apply grant-writing and fundraising skills to secure additional resources for the School.
- Advocate for the School and its faculty, staff and students within the College and in the broader community.
- Build strong relationships with external partners, including local businesses and industry stakeholders.
- Demonstrate ethical, transparent leadership, integrity and social responsibility.
- Create a welcoming environment and lead effectively in a complex, changing educational landscape.
- Masterโs degree required; earned doctorate preferred, as confirmed by official transcripts.
- Five years of progressively responsible teaching, administrative and/or educational leadership experience.
- Three years of upper-level administrative or supervisory experience in a community college or higher education environment.
- Demonstrated successful experience in leadership, strategic planning, fiscal management, resource allocation and personnel supervision.
- Demonstrated distinguished record of teaching, scholarly publications and/or creative accomplishments that reflects a commitment to academic excellence.
- Will be subject to a criminal background check. Some positions may be subject to a fingerprint check.
