Network & Telecommunications Infrastructure

Environments: Data centers, telecom sites, deployed field environments
Role Summary:
This track focuses on network and communications systems. Technicians install, maintain, and monitor fiber optics, copper cabling, and network hardware to ensure reliable connectivity and system performance. Ideal candidates have experience in signal, cyber, IT, or communications roles.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, terminate, splice, and test fiber optic, copper, and coaxial cabling (inside/outside plant)
  • Rack-and-stack servers, switches, routers, and communication equipment
  • Configure and monitor LAN/WAN networks, network operations, and communications platforms
  • Respond to network or communications outages; troubleshoot and implement corrective actions
  • Maintain system documentation, backups, and compliance with security standards
Military Experience Translation:

  • Cable installation & maintenance
  • Network & communications systems (routers, switches, satellite/RF, NOCs)
  • IT & cyber operations (system administration, network monitoring, security)
  • Field deployments in austere or high-reliability environments
Preferred Qualifications:

  • Mission-critical or high-availability environments (data centers, telecom, deployed networks)
  • Knowledge of SCADA, BMS, or industrial control systems
  • Certifications: CompTIA Network+, Security+, CCNA, fiber optic credentials
