Job description

Join our team of over 1,000 employees as an Electrical Engineer at our beautiful Woodridge, IL facility. Reporting to the Vice President of Client Services, the Electrical Engineer will be responsible for designing and creating detailed electrical plans, layouts, and wiring diagrams based on engineering designs and specifications.

Located in our beautiful Woodridge, IL facility and reporting to the Vice President of Client Services Group, the Electrical Engineer will be responsible for designing and creating detailed electrical plans, layouts, and wiring diagrams based on engineering designs and specifications. This position requires an individual with expertise in electrical design, CAD drafting, and code-compliant engineering practices.

You’ll develop detailed electrical drawings, including schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, and single-line diagrams using CAD software, along with electrical calculations for loads, equipment sizing, feeder sizing, voltage drop, grounding, lighting circuits and controls, facility and electrical service, and power distribution. Working closely with draftsmen, project managers, and other team members, you’ll design projects in accordance with building codes, best practices, and project requirements, coordinating with other departments to integrate electrical designs with mechanical, structural, and architectural plans.

What You’ll Own
  • Develop detailed electrical drawings, including schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, and single-line diagrams using CAD software.
  • Develop electrical calculations for loads, equipment sizing, feeder sizing, voltage drop, grounding, lighting circuits and controls, facility and electrical service, and power distribution.
  • Prepare technical drawings and plans to ensure accurate representation of electrical systems.
  • Modify and update existing electrical drawings based on project changes and requirements.
  • Work closely with draftsmen, project managers, and other team members to gather necessary information and ensure design accuracy.
  • Design projects in accordance with building codes, best practices, and project requirements.
  • Coordinate with other departments to integrate electrical designs with mechanical, structural, and architectural plans.
  • Ensure all electrical drawings comply with industry standards, codes, and regulations.
  • Conduct project site surveys to assess existing field conditions and electrical infrastructure.
  • Maintain organized records of all electrical drawings and related documentation.
What You Bring
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field; Professional Engineering (PE) license preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience in commercial electrical construction and design.
  • Strong knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and Chicago Electrical Code.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD 2D, AutoCAD 3D, Revit Modeling, Bluebeam Software, and SKM PowerTools.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings.
  • Ability to work independently as well as within a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong multi-tasking and math skills.
  • Ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines while maintaining a focus on quality.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to drive.
