Position Summary

The Vice President of Clinical Operations serves as the clinical and operational leader for the hospice program and is responsible for ensuring the delivery of exceptional patient care while maintaining compliance with all federal, state, and accreditation standards.

This position provides leadership to the interdisciplinary team, oversees daily clinical operations, manages staffing and quality initiatives, and promotes a culture of compassion, accountability, and excellence.

This role also functions as the Nursing Supervisor in accordance with Medicare Hospice Conditions of Participation.

What You'll DoClinical Leadership
  • Provide strategic leadership and oversight of daily hospice clinical operations.
  • Ensure exceptional patient and family care while maintaining compliance with Medicare Hospice Conditions of Participation and New Jersey regulations.
  • Promote clinical excellence, patient safety, and quality outcomes.
  • Serve as Administrator On-Call and participate in the administrative on-call rotation.
Team Leadership
  • Recruit, hire, mentor, coach, and develop clinical and non-clinical team members.
  • Lead and support Registered Nurses, Hospice Aides, Social Workers, Chaplains, Bereavement Coordinators, Volunteer Coordinators, and other interdisciplinary staff.
  • Conduct performance evaluations, coaching, and employee development initiatives.
  • Foster a collaborative, positive, and supportive team culture.
Regulatory Compliance & Quality
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with:
    • Medicare Hospice Conditions of Participation
    • New Jersey hospice regulations
    • Company policies and procedures
  • Maintain survey readiness and oversee quality improvement initiatives.
  • Monitor clinical documentation, audits, and regulatory performance.
Operations & Financial Oversight
  • Manage staffing levels to ensure quality patient care.
  • Monitor productivity, budgets, and operational efficiency.
  • Oversee utilization of DME, pharmaceuticals, and medical supplies.
  • Review expenditures and support financial performance while maintaining high-quality care.
Interdisciplinary Collaboration
  • Lead interdisciplinary team meetings.
  • Promote collaboration among physicians, nurses, social workers, chaplains, aides, and community partners.
  • Ensure continuity of care through effective communication and coordination.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with referral sources and healthcare partners.
Leadership & Culture
  • Champion Vitality Hospice's mission, vision, and values.
  • Create a culture centered on compassion, accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
  • Lead by example with professionalism, integrity, and servant leadership.
QualificationsRequired
  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in New Jersey
  • Minimum age of 18
  • Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and current auto insurance
  • Strong leadership and team management experience
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and effectively manage multiple priorities
Preferred
  • Previous hospice leadership experience
  • Experience in healthcare operations management
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • Medicare Hospice Conditions of Participation
    • Hospice reimbursement
    • Regulatory compliance
    • Quality improvement initiatives
    • Interdisciplinary hospice care
Work Environment

This position requires travel between:

  • Hospice office
  • Patient homes
  • Assisted living communities
  • Skilled nursing facilities
  • Hospitals

Frequent automobile travel is required.

Exposure to infectious diseases and various healthcare environments should be expected.
