Job description

Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm

Purpose or General Objective:To sort through textile in order to eliminate the storage of excess "unacceptable" product.

Essential Duties:

  • Continually sort through donated textile, while separating "good" from "bad" product
  • Correctly label carts and Gaylords as "SORTED", "SEASONAL" or "BALE"
  • Transfer carts and Gaylords to the appropriate staging area within the plant
  • Weigh product as directed by supervisor
  • Maintain a safe and orderly work environment
  • Follow safety procedures and report injuries and safety hazards
  • Maintain good housekeeping skills including sweeping and cleaning work area at the end of shift
  • Maintain a level of processing performance of at least 4 carts, 6 Gaylords or any combination thereof per day
  • Develop the ability to sort acceptable from unacceptable donations
  • Ability to work productively without close supervision.
  • Ability to work cooperatively and professionally with all employees, participants, customers and consumers working with and for Goodwill Industries.

  • Other duties as assigned by the Charlotte Plant Supervisor, Transportation Supervisor, Operations Manager, Retail Director or Vice President of Retail and Donated Goods.
