Vice President of Operations – Plumbing amp; HVAC (Michigan)
Location: Lansing, MI (or East of Lansing region)
Industry: Mechanical Contracting – Plumbing amp; HVAC
Organization: Multi-location contractor with ~250 field technicians

Position Summary
We are seeking a results-driven Vice President of Operations to lead field and operational performance across a growing mechanical contracting organization in Michigan. This role is responsible for overseeing all aspects of plumbing and HVAC operations, ensuring projects are executed efficiently, profitably, and to the highest quality standards.
The ideal candidate brings 15–20 years of project management experience in the plumbing and HVAC industry, along with the leadership presence and technical expertise to oversee large-scale commercial, multifamily, and residential work.

Core Responsibilities
  • Lead day-to-day operations across multiple locations, ensuring consistency, efficiency, and accountability
  • Oversee execution of all projects, including commercial, multifamily, and residential scopes
  • Direct and support a workforce of approximately 250 field technicians, including project managers and field supervisors
  • Drive operational performance related to schedule, budget, productivity, and quality
  • Establish and enforce standard operating procedures and best practices across all branches
  • Partner with executive leadership on strategic planning, workforce development, and growth initiatives
  • Monitor financial performance, including job costing, forecasting, and margin improvement
  • Champion a strong culture of safety, compliance, and accountability
  • Build and maintain key relationships with clients, general contractors, and vendors

Required Qualifications
  • 15–20 years of project management experience within plumbing and HVAC
  • Demonstrated success managing large, complex projects in commercial and multifamily construction
  • Experience leading teams in a multi-location or multi-division environment
  • Strong technical knowledge of plumbing systems, HVAC systems, and field operations
  • Proven ability to manage budgets, schedules, manpower planning, and operational performance
  • Effective leadership, communication, and decision-making skills

Licenses amp; Certifications
  • Journeyman Plumber license (required minimum)
  • Master Plumber license (preferred)
  • Additional HVAC/mechanical certifications are a plus

Preferred Profile
  • Based in or willing to relocate to the Lansing, MI area or east of Lansing
  • Hands-on leader with strong field credibility and operational discipline
  • Capable of managing both high-level strategy and day-to-day execution
  • Experience in a growing organization with multiple service lines or locations
