Our Client is a independently owned, NYC based alternative asset management firm currently seeking to add a VP/Director to their growing Real Estate/Structured Finance Investments practice. Ideal individual will play the leading role advising/constructing and underwriting custom investment portfolios, B-piece transactions and supporting firms' investment goals, and investment agendas.

This is newly created role due to firm wide growth. This select individual should be prepared to compliment firms' legacy investment team, with a specialization in CMBS sub-investment grade

(B-Piece) investments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead underwriting process for complex real estate (CMBS) credit/debt investment strategies
  • Develop and maintaining portfolio models, performance & risk analytics, and other relevant monitoring / reporting tools.
  • Develop investment analysis and forecast performance for CMBS and real estate related assets
  • Provide analysis and valuations models for CMBS/B-Piece securities
  • Formulate credit parameters and transaction-level risks relating to property-level cash flows and market data.
  • Lead analysis/valuations/due diligence and hypothetical stress testing on complex debt, hard to price real estate transactions
  • Conduct thorough sector and issuer due diligence, tracking trends, performance, and macroeconomic drivers to formulate investment recommendations for sectors and individual securities
  • Prescreen opportunities prior to the sizing, underwriting and documentation process
  • Formulate buy and/or sell recommendations in both new issue and secondary markets and effectively communicate them to the broader investor community, including through written credit opinions
  • Collaborate with our Research, Engineering, Legal, Compliance and Finance teams to take products from conceptualization to launch. Develop and execute a comprehensive product strategy that leverages our capabilities to create innovative solutions

What you need to succeed:

  • 10+ years of experience in the alternative investment industry
  • Prior experience with CMBS B-Piece Transactions Mandatory
  • Deep understanding of CMBS/CRE-focused securitized products
  • Must possess very good understanding of Mortgage cashflows, prepayments and prepay models
  • CFA designation is strongly recommended; MBA/MFE (or equivalent) is preferred
  • Demonstrated experience in building trusted advisor relationships within Insurance business in relevant insurance markets, private equity, private credit/insurance vertical M&A
  • Highly motivated, entrepreneurial, and team-oriented candidates with strong problem-solving skills
  • Team orientation and influencing skills
  • Strategic and entrepreneurial mindset
  • An ability to work through others to influence outcomes, as well as a willingness to “roll-up your sleeves” to get things done
  • Track record of successfully building growth plans and accelerating business development within Insurance vertical
  • Knowledge of broad asset classes across the investment spectrum
  • Problem solver, with demonstrated ability to deliver innovative solutions
  • Ability to cultivate strong working relationships across various functional areas (Investments, ALM, Treasury, Risk and Finance)
