VP, Product Management - Applied Intelligence

Billtrust US Careers

OR • On-site, Remote

Full-time

Re-posted 7 days ago

Job description

About the Role:

The VP, Applied Intelligence is a Senior leadership role accountable for setting the AI vision that defines Billtrust's next chapter. You will harness AI tools, co-worker agents, and frontier intelligence capabilities to architect a product strategy that reshapes how 2,600+ global customers experience the future of B2B finance - bringing the irreplaceable human judgment required to turn transformative technology into durable competitive advantage.

Reporting to the Chief Product Officer and operating as a key member of the Product leadership team, you will own Billtrust's Applied Intelligence agenda end-to-end: setting the multi-year roadmap, building and inspiring a world-class organization, and serving as the company's most senior external voice on AI-powered B2B finance. This role demands more than AI expertise alone. It requires a genuine understanding of how

money moves through complex B2B relationships, and what it takes to replace manual, error-prone financial workflows with intelligent automation that customers trust with their cash. This is an executive mandate to define what an AI-first AR platform looks like, and to make it real at scale.

What You'll Do:

AI Strategy & Executive Leadership

Set Billtrust's Applied Intelligence vision and multi-year product roadmap, establishing the strategic framework that guides how AI shapes every layer of the AR lifecycle.

Serve as a member of the Product leadership team, shaping company-wide product strategy and influencing investment priorities at the executive level.

Define the operating model for how Applied Intelligence is built, deployed, and continuously improved - including governance, evaluation standards, and responsible AI principles.

Other duties as assigned.

Product Development & AI Innovation

Own the end-to-end product lifecycle for Billtrust's AI-powered capabilities - from opportunity identification and experimentation through scaled delivery and ongoing iteration - leveraging co-worker agents and AI tooling to compress timelines and raise quality.

Establish rigorous frameworks for evaluating AI product performance, accuracy, reliability, and customer safety before and after deployment.

Drive a culture of bold experimentation: define hypotheses, design tests, interpret results, and champion the learnings that most accelerate product-market fit.

Partner with Engineering, Data Science, and Design to translate frontier AI capabilities into intuitive, production-grade customer experiences.

Organization Building & Talent

Recruit, develop, and retain a high-caliber team of product managers and applied AI practitioners, building one of the most sought-after AI product organizations in B2B fintech.

Champion AI-first ways of working across the entire Product organization, setting the standard for how leaders and ICs leverage AI tools to amplify impact.

Create clear career pathways and a coaching culture that elevates team members into future leaders of AI product development.

Market Presence & Commercial Impact

Serve as Billtrust's most senior external voice on Applied Intelligence - representing the company at industry events, in analyst conversations, and in strategic customer and partner engagements.

Partner with Sales, Marketing, and Customer Success to ensure AI differentiation is clearly communicated and consistently converted into pipeline and retention.

Engage directly with key customers to co-create AI solutions, gather strategic insight, and validate roadmap direction against real-world complexity.
What You'll Bring:

Required Skills:

12+ years of experience in product management, applied AI, or a related field, with significant tenure in executive or senior VP-level product leadership.

Demonstrated experience setting AI strategy and driving AI-first transformation at scale across a product organization or business unit.

Deep understanding of machine learning, large language models, agentic AI frameworks, and how these capabilities translate into production-grade B2B product experiences.

Proven track record of building and scaling high-performing applied AI product teams in a fast-moving enterprise SaaS or fintech environment.

Fluency in FinTech data: how financial data is structured, how it flows across ERP systems, payment networks, and AR workflows, and why data quality and latency matter differently in financial contexts than in general SaaS.

Executive presence and communication skills that inspire confidence across the C-suite, board, customers, partners, and external audiences.

Strong commercial acumen - able to connect AI product investment directly to revenue growth, retention, and competitive differentiation.

Preferred Skills:

Direct experience in Order to Cash, accounts receivable, cash application, collections, or B2B payments - either building products in this space or operating within it at enterprise scale.

Familiarity with the data structures and integration patterns common in AR automation: ERP connectors, remittance data, invoice line-item detail, payment status feeds, and buyer identity resolution.

Hands-on familiarity with agentic AI architectures, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), or multi-model orchestration in enterprise production environments.

Track record of representing product vision externally - at conferences, in analyst briefings, or in strategic customer advisory settings.

Experience co-creating AI solutions with enterprise customers and translating those partnerships into roadmap impact and revenue.

The expected base salary range for this position is $236,000 - $315,000 annually.

Compensation may vary depending on several factors, including a candidate's qualifications, skills, experience, competencies, and geographic location. Some roles may qualify for extra incentives like equity, commissions, or other variable performance-related bonuses. Further details will be provided by our Talent Acquisition team during the interview process.
