The Vice President of Marketing & Communications serves as the organization's chief marketing strategist and brand steward, responsible for translating Atlanta Habitat for Humanity's strategic vision into integrated marketing, communications, and engagement initiatives that drive measurable impact and organizational growth. As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, this leader partners closely with executive leadership to shape organizational priorities, strengthen market positioning, and develop compelling narratives that elevate Atlanta Habitat's profile among donors, volunteers, homeowners, corporate partners, policymakers, and community leaders, and other stakeholders. The VP leads a high-performing marketing and communications function that combines brand strategy, storytelling, media relations, public affairs, digital engagement, and data-informed decision-making to advance Atlanta Habitat's mission, deepen engagement, expand influence, and drive long-term growth objectives. The successful candidate will be both a visionary and an executor, capable of synthesizing complex organizational goals into clear, audience-centered strategies while building the systems, partnerships, and accountability necessary to achieve results. 

Requirements

Education/Professional Credentials

  • Bachelor's degree with an emphasis in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Public Affairs or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).

Experience

  • Minimum of 10 years in a creative field with at least 3 years of senior leadership experience.
  • Demonstrable track record leading and managing a broad range of communications campaigns
  • A strong track record as an implementer who thrives on managing a variety of key initiatives concurrently
  • Managing creatives (graphic designers, photographers, videographers, printers)
  • Managing projects and meeting deadlines efficiently

Skills

  • Strong understanding of digital marketing trends, UX/UI principles, and social media landscapes.
  • High emotional intelligence with a proven ability to inspire, motivate, and develop creative talent.
  • Agility to handle tight deadlines and adapt to shifting business priorities.
  • Strong project management and time management skills
  • Ability to create and manage budgets
  • Excellent writing/editing and verbal communication skills (AP Style)
  • Ability to work well with a diverse group of staff members, volunteers and community leaders
  • High energy, maturity, relationship builder with a highly collaborative and creative style
  • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Cloud, and familiarity with digital design tools
  • Experience managing teams and empowering colleagues to do their best work
  • Preferred, not required: given Atlanta Habitat's brand and market positioning opportunities as a mission-driven developer, professional experience or awareness within the following fields will be strongly considered: community development, real estate development, economic development, urban planning, housing, and place-based marketing.
