POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
The Vice President – Operational Accounting is a senior finance leader responsible for overseeing the accounting, financial reporting, and operational integration for a large-scale Senior Housing operating portfolio within a publicly traded REIT environment.
This role provides strategic oversight of financial reporting processes, joint venture partnerships, and operator relationships, ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant financial reporting in accordance with GAAP, SEC, and SOX requirements. The VP partners closely with Asset Management, FP&A, Investments, and executive leadership to deliver actionable insights, drive process transformation, and support long-term value creation across the portfolio.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Leadership & Strategy
  • Lead and develop a high-performing Operational Accounting team supporting a complex senior housing portfolio
  • Establish and execute strategic priorities aligned with enterprise goals, including process optimization, automation, and scalability
  • Drive continuous improvement and standardization across accounting processes, systems, and controls
Financial Reporting & Public Company Compliance
  • Oversee the preparation and review of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting for operating properties and joint ventures
  • Ensure compliance with SEC reporting requirements, including Form 10-Q and 10-K disclosures
  • Maintain and enhance internal controls in compliance with SOX requirements
Portfolio Oversight & Analysis
  • Provide executive-level oversight of:
    • Balance sheet and income statement variance analysis
    • Cash flow and distribution analysis
    • Capital expenditure reporting and forecasting
    • Key operating metrics (occupancy, margins, RevPOR)
  • Partner with Asset Management to analyze property-level performance and optimize portfolio outcomes
  • Deliver insights and recommendations to improve operational and financial performance
Operator & Joint Venture Management
  • Oversee relationships with third-party operators to ensure timely, accurate, and complete financial reporting
  • Review operator financials and reconciliations, ensuring alignment with REIT reporting requirements
  • Lead preparation and presentation of financial packages to JV partners and stakeholders
  • Support structuring, onboarding, and integration of new investments and partnerships
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
  • BS degree with Accounting emphasis
  • Previous public company experience
  • Previous experience in real estate or healthcare preferred
  • Expert level Excel capabilities
  • Detail oriented with good written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to successfully manage multiple tasks
  • Deadline and project oriented

Base Salary (based upon, and subject to, candidate experience): $200,000 - $250,000 (plus generous cash and equity incentives)
