Job description

VICE PRESIDENT OF OPERATIONS

Smokin Burrow Rodent Control, Inc.

Visalia, California | Executive Leadership Team

Build the Industry Leader.

Smokin Burrow isn't any other pest control company. We're building the premier agricultural rodent control company in the United States, protecting millions of dollars in crop production for California growers through innovation, technology, exceptional service, and execution that doesn't slip.

For the past 3 years, we have been growing at a 50% rate, and our systems require more attention and improvements to support our projected growth. Addressing this gap is your responsibility.

If you're looking for a comfortable corporate job, this isn't it.

If you want to build the operations backbone of a company that could become the national leader in agricultural rodent control, keep reading.

Your Mission

Build an operations organization capable of scaling across California and beyond, without losing service quality, profitability, culture, or accountability along the way.

You'll partner directly with the CEO to turn vision into execution. This isn't a maintenance role. It's a build role.

What Winning Looks Like

Within your first 12 months, you will:

  • Build systems that support 2-3x company growth
  • Increase operational efficiency across every department
  • Improve gross margin through better execution
  • Develop department leaders who can run the business without constant supervision
  • Implement KPIs and scorecards across the organization
  • Improve customer satisfaction and retention
  • Standardize SOPs for every operational process
  • Know and be known by our customers
  • Prepare the company for multi-location expansion

Responsibilities

  • Build accountability systems and performance metrics
  • Lead all daily operations
  • Oversee dispatch, scheduling, production, fleet, field operations, and customer service
  • Recruit, train, and develop high-performing field managers
  • Create operational dashboards and KPI reporting
  • Manage budgets and operational profitability
  • Improve efficiency through technology and automation
  • Lead strategic planning with the CEO
  • Drive continuous process improvement
  • Protect company culture while scaling rapidly
  • Strong understanding of all jobs and fields

The Right Person

This role isn't for everyone. You should apply if you:

·        Have built systems and teams from scratch before, not just managed ones that already existed

·        Get energy from ambiguity and gaps, not just clear direction

·        Can make an unpopular call and still get people to follow you

·        Would rather solve the root problem than manage around it

·        Want to look back in 3 years and point to a company you helped build, not just a job you held

Experience

Preferred qualifications:

  • 5+ years leading operations
  • Experience managing 50-150+ employees
  • Multi-location operations experience preferred
  • Background in construction, agriculture, logistics, field service, transportation, or similar industries
  • Proven success scaling companies through a growth inflection point
  • Strong financial understanding (P&L ownership, margin management)
  • Experience with EOS or similar operating systems is a plus

Performance Metrics

Your success will be measured by:

  • Customer Retention
  • Employee Retention
  • On-Time Completion
  • Operational Efficiency
  • Branch Profitability
  • Leadership Development
  • Revenue Growth
  • Net Profit
  • Safety Performance

Compensation

We reward performance — and we're specific about what that means:

  • Starting Base salary: $120,000
  • Performance bonus program: Up to 60% of base salary
  • Paid vacation
  • Health benefits
  • Company vehicle
  • Professional development

Why Smokin Burrow?

Agriculture deserves better service. We're investing heavily in technology, AI, equipment, people, and systems to build something that hasn't existed in our industry before.

This isn't about maintaining a business. It's about building the company everyone else measures themselves against.

If that excites you, we want to meet you.
