Job description

Company Overview

Tango Therapeutics is a biotechnology company dedicated to discovering novel drug targets and delivering the next generation of precision medicine for the treatment of cancer.

Using an approach that starts and ends with patients, Tango leverages the genetic principle of synthetic lethality to discover and develop therapies that take aim at critical targets in cancer.

This includes expanding the universe of precision oncology targets into novel areas such as tumor suppressor gene loss and their contribution to the ability of cancer cells to evade immune cell killing.

The Tango labs and offices are located at 201 Brookline Avenue, in the Fenway area of Boston, Massachusetts.

Summary

Tango Therapeutics is seeking a visionary and strategic oncology leader to serve as Vice President, Clinical Development. Reporting directly to the President of Research & Development, this highly visible executive will lead the clinical development strategy from early stage through late stage development.

This role offers the opportunity to shape enterprise-wide clinical development strategy, build high-performing development capabilities, and play a pivotal role in advancing transformational therapies for patients with cancer.

Your Role:

You will also lead, mentor, and develop a team of Medical Directors and Clinical Scientists and represent Tango within the oncology community to advance innovative therapies for patients with cancer.

  • Lead the clinical development strategy for vopimetostat, including ownership of the Clinical Development Plan and its evolution throughout development
  • Serve as the Clinical Development leader and a core member of the Global Program Team, partnering cross-functionally to shape program strategy and deliver development milestones
  • Lead the design, execution, analysis, and interpretation of clinical studies, including protocol development, dose optimization, indication expansion, and data-driven decision making
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Medical Directors and Clinical Scientists, fostering a culture of scientific excellence, collaboration, accountability, and continuous learning
  • Partner with Project Management, Clinical Operations, Regulatory Affairs, Clinical Pharmacology, Biometrics, Translational Medicine, Medical Writing, and Pharmacovigilance to ensure aligned, high-quality program execution
  • Lead clinical contributions to regulatory interactions and oversee preparation and review of protocols, Investigator's Brochures, INDs/CTAs, briefing packages, and marketing application components
  • Interpret emerging clinical, safety, PK/PD, biomarker, and competitive data to refine development strategy and inform program decisions
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key opinion leaders, investigators, and external collaborators
  • Represent Tango at regulatory meetings, scientific congresses, investigator meetings, and advisory boards
  • Support scientific communications, including publications, abstracts, and presentations

What You Bring:

  • MD with board certification (or eligibility) in Medical Oncology or a related specialty
  • 14+ years of oncology drug development experience within the biotechnology and/or pharmaceutical industry, spanning early- and late-stage clinical development
  • Demonstrated success leading clinical development programs, including development of Clinical Development Plans, protocol design, execution of clinical trials, and experience with regulatory interactions and NDA/BLA submission

  • Experience leading, mentoring, and developing physicians and/or Clinical Scientists within a matrixed drug development organization
  • Deep understanding of oncology drug development, ICH-GCP, FDA, and global regulatory requirements
  • Strong scientific and clinical judgment, with the ability to integrate clinical, safety, pharmacology, biomarker, and competitive data to inform development strategy
  • Exceptional communication, collaboration, and cross-functional leadership skills, with the ability to influence across diverse scientific and operational teams
  • Resourceful, adaptable, and execution-oriented, with a passion for advancing innovative therapies for patients with cancer
