Located in Saint Peter, Minnesota, Gustavus is known for close student-faculty relationships, a deeply engaged campus community, and an educational experience designed to prepare students not only for careers, but for lives of purpose and impact. Through an innovative liberal arts curriculum, the College encourages students to explore broadly, think critically, and develop the confidence to lead in meaningful ways.
This is a defining moment for Gustavus. Under new presidential leadership and guided by a newly approved strategic plan, the College is advancing an ambitious vision to become a national model for a distinctive, lifelong liberal arts education. Strong enrollment trends, an engaged Board, and a commitment to mission-driven growth have positioned Gustavus to pursue long-term sustainability while continuing to strengthen the student experience.
The Opportunity:
The Vice President for Advancement will serve as a key member of the President's cabinet and as the institution's chief advancement officer, leading a comprehensive and integrated advancement enterprise at a transformative moment in Gustavus's history.
Reporting directly to President John C. Volin, PhD, the Vice President will help guide the execution of a bold, multi-year strategy focused on expanding philanthropic support, deepening alumni and constituent engagement, and advancing the College's long-term financial sustainability.
The successful candidate will partner closely with the President, Board of Trustees, and senior leadership to lead campaign strategy, steward major and principal gift relationships, empower an energized team, and cultivate new pathways for donor engagement, including corporate and foundation partnerships. Gustavus seeks a leader who can bring both vision and operational rigor to advancement, leveraging data-informed strategies and strong relationship-building skills to elevate performance across the division.
This is an opportunity for an experienced advancement executive to lead through a moment of opportunity and help position Gustavus for sustained philanthropic growth and institutional impact.
The salary range for this position is $195,000-$230,000.
Prerequisites
Gustavus offers competitive and comprehensive benefits which include:

  • Onsite health services
  • Free parking, exercise classes, and use of library and athletic facilities
  • Paid parental leave
  • Employer contribution to retirement savings plan (after one year of employment)
  • Tuition scholarships for dependents
  • Tuition benefit plan for employees and spouse
  • 13 paid Holidays + generous PTO plan
