VP, Material Damage & Property Claims

Summary

As a key member of the Claims Senior Leadership Team, the Vice President of Material Damage & Property Claims will lead the strategic and operational evolution of our material damage and property claims organization. This executive will be responsible for overseeing the full lifecycle of material damage and property claims, while driving transformation initiatives that enhance efficiency, innovation, and customer satisfaction. With a strong blend of operational discipline and forward-thinking leadership, this position will shape a modern, responsive, and customer-centric claims environment.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and execute a long-term strategy for material damage and property claims aligned with enterprise goals
  • Lead large, multi-layered teams with a focus on performance, engagement, and leadership development
  • Drive operational excellence through process optimization, automation, and data-driven decision-making
  • Champion innovation, including digital transformation and emerging technologies within the claims function
  • Ensure best-in-class customer experience through responsive, transparent, and empathetic claims handling
  • Partner cross-functionally with underwriting, legal, compliance, and risk to deliver holistic business outcomes
  • Maintain rigorous oversight of regulatory compliance, claims governance, and fraud prevention strategies

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree or equivalent professional expertise strongly preferred
  • 10+ years of progressive leadership experience, including significant tenure in senior or executive-level claims roles
  • Demonstrated success leading large-scale claims operations and transformation initiatives
  • Deep expertise in property and material damage claims, including end-to-end lifecycle management
  • Strong understanding of insurance regulatory frameworks, legal considerations, and fraud mitigation
  • Proven capability in customer experience strategy and relationship management
  • Extensive knowledge of modern management practices, organizational design, and performance leadership
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to anticipate market trends and translate insights into strategic action

Pay Philosophy : The typical starting salary range for this role is determined by several factors including skills, experience, education, certifications, and location. Some roles at Mapfre are eligible for commission and/or bonus earnings, in addition to salary, calculated based upon factors set forth in the compensation plan for the role.

Salary Range $200,000 - $270,000
